I am not a difficult person to get along with, few things ruffle my feathers, and I play well with others. I find nearly all disagreements can easily be resolved with a kind word and a calm approach. In most cases I keep my head, although I have been known to lose my temper a time or two as well. This is one of those times. I want to share with you an experience I encountered with my very first e-Bay purchase in hopes you can avoid such an unpleasant confrontation as the one I, and a many others, have had to deal with.

As a newbie to e-Bay, I won an auction for this Precious Moments stuffed pig. Price was $5.00, shipping and handling was $5.99. My item arrived in a timely manner, no problem there. I am annoyed that the seller charged me $5.99 for shipping then sent my item crammed in a manila envelope and only paid $1.06. I DID read the depiction, and for my $5.99 I expected the product to be well packaged, such as, wrapped in tissue paper (since part of the reason I purchased this was the “only handled when purchasing and when taking ebay pics!!” description) and placed in a shipping box, NOT stuffed into a 9 x 6 envelope. I sent an email to this seller requesting a refund for the $4.93 I was overcharged, and was immediately denied. Next, I left a complaint on seller’s account which was also instantly countered with a negative on my account, when I followed up with a response, seller fibbed about a late payment. This person is extremely vindictive and dishonest.

After dealing with this person’s excessive insolence, I decided to take the time to go through the seller’s feedback; to be sure my case was not an exception to her/his otherwise sincere business practices. What I found was numerous people complaining about this seller’s outrageous shipping charges and poor packing procedures only to be slapped with a negative, untrue spiteful feedback levied against the buyers. It annoys me this seller made an extra $4.93 on my purchase. At this very moment, this seller has 233 items up for bid, from what I have estimated, she/he makes an additional $3.00 per item due to inflated postage, so, they are profiting by more or less $699 on these items alone. This seller has nearly 4000 feedbacks, so now we’re talking about a scam of somewhere around $12,000. This isn’t even taking in account all the items mysteriously lost in shipping.

Also, the seller refuses to take Pay Pal credit card payments, which seemed confusing at first, since the money is directly deposited into one’s Pay Pal account, BUT, a one can stop payment after receiving misrepresented product, which this seller so obviously doesn’t want.

I find it reprehensible that this seller takes advantage of so many people, leaving us with little or us no recourse, at least none I have found. I simply want to warm other e-Bayers to read through a seller’s feedback, this person has 182 negative against his/her account, all with nearly the same dilemma, that is a lot of unhappy people. A deal isn’t truly a deal when the shipping is over priced, the item is broken or never arrives.

Okay, I have said my piece, ranted and raved about the unfairness of one seller, so, allow me to also inform you that the rest of my experiences have been wonderful. Again, I am fairly new, but for the one rotten apple, I have dealt with 4 good honest participants. So, happy e-baying, and drop in and see what goodies I have up for sale, or link me to one of your irresistible deals. Ciao.
