Dave Pelzer lived in a house with his mother, father, and two brothers. He loved his life until his mother suddenly changed from greatest mother, to worst mother. She told Dave that he was a bad boy. She abused him in unusual ways such as, locking him in the bathroom with a bucket full of ammonia and clorox, making him sit on top of the fire on the stove, making him sleep in the garage, not feeding him, and a lot more. She wouldn't feed him for days, so he was forced to steal food, and dig for food in trash cans. After his mother figured out that he'd been stealing food, and getting food from trash cans, she made him throw up every single day after he got home from school so there would be no food in his stomach. His mother stabbed him once, and his father was so used to thing's like this happening that he didn't do anything about it. Dave's school nurse started noticing the bruises, and became suspicious. The school got involved, and called the police. The police figured out that Dave had been abused, and they took him away from his mother.
