about us....

We are a new Linux user group based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, consisting of a bunch of weather forecasters and tech support. Our gravitation to Linux was forced by microsoft's inability to run weather numerical prediction models the way we want it. Besides, we hear Linux is FREE? :)
The U.A.E. seems to be windoze country, except for a couple of very helpful chaps at Etisalat the local support for anything Linux is sorely lacking, and we hope to make a bit of inroads in that direction. Anyone with hints and help to get Linux running on the local ISP with different hardware will be doubly welcome to join.
