  • During the 1920s organized sports became a big part of people’s lives. America fell in love with sports and competitive games. Baseball became known as America’s pastime. Crowds of fans ran to stadiums around America to see their favorite teams and players play. One particular player named Babe Ruth, a player for the New York Yankees became known as hero and later as a legend. In the 1920s he hit enough homeruns to set a major league record twice. Since the Jim Crowe Laws mandated the country, it created Negro Leagues that African American played in. They created these leagues because African-Americans were not allowed to play with the White players.
