He married REBECCA IDA SEXTON(1039,1040,1041,1042,1043,1044) 1882 in Rector, Arkansas, daughter of WILLIAM SEXTON and REBECCA. She was born February 23, 1863 in Greene County, Arkansas, and died August 17, 1932 in Clay County Arkansas.

    Notes for CLARK PINKNEY MASSEY:

    "Pink" as he was called by most people was first found in the 1880 Census of Clay Co., Rector, AR, as 'Pinkney Massey' living with the William Sexton family as a boarder and farmer. It notes that he was 23 years old,single and that he was born in Tennessee. The Census notes that his father and mother were born in Tennessee as well. This Census also notes that his two brothers, Brown, age 19 and Mansfield,age 17 were also boarders of the Sexton family.

    It is logical to assume that this is how he met "Ida" Sexton. The 1900 Census for Oak Bluff Twp, Clay Co., Ar indicates that Pink and Ida had a total of seven children with five daughters and one son still living. This same census indicates that the couple had been married for 18 years so that would have their marriage occurring in the year of 1882.

    As their first child, Edna was born in Jan, 1883, the time frame would suggest that their marriage probably took place between Jan-April, 1882.

    A daughter, Nellie, was born Oct. 28, 1885 and died on Sept. 2, 1887 (information obtained from cemetery record for Mary's Chapel cemetery in Clay Co., AR). Grace was born a year later on Sept. 10, 1888, and their remaining children followed a regular two year intervals.

    'Pink's' gravestone is located in the Woodland Heights Cemetery, Sec 4B, Rector, AR. The stone notes his name as "C.P. Massey" and Rebecca Ida Massey's headstone is beside his. It is from the Clay Co., AR Cemetery, Vol 976.7995, V3C, V.1 record that I obtained this information. The "Clark Pinkney" was typed in brackets beside his information which is where I picked up his proper name 'Clark Pinkney Massey'. His only son, 'Roy Pinkney' is buried close beside his parents with a headstone provide for his wife, Bera when her time comes.

    A copy of his death registration from AR Dept. of Health, Little Rock, AR shows his name was indeed "Clark". The death registration was signed by his son, Roy. It does not show, however, Clark's father's name but does indicate that his mother was "Nellie Bright".

    The funeral card for Clark Pinkney Massey was obtained from Barbara McKeel, of Missouri, USA, who has maintained old records of obituaries and marriages from the Old Democrat paper of Clay Co., AR.

    The funeral card notes the following people as pall bearers: Curtis Cannon, Leon Bullock, Dock Handleman, Alonzo Holifield, Oscar Stallings, and Chalmers Lorance. "Crossing the Bar" was a poem written by "Tennyson" and also noted on his funeral card. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 11, 1938 at 11:00 A.M. at his home.

    Notes for MANSFIELD PRICE (BUSTER) MASSEY: In the "Vitascope" a Rector, Arkansas newspaper was this story on the death of Mansfield Price (Buster) Massey;

    Storm Strikes With Fatal Results

    The most destructive storm to visit these parts in many years descended upon Rector and vicinity Monday afternoon about 4 o' clock. The wind attained the velocity of a tornado and the rain accompanied by hail, came down in torrents, at times completely hiding objects across the street. The storm broke very suddenly with very little warning, and caught a good many people unawares.

    The only fatality reported was at the farm of C. N. Massey, 3 miles east of here, where the 14 year old son of Mr. Massey was killed. We are informed that the father and two children were in the barn, and fearing that the structure was about to collapse, the father started for the house telling the children to follow.

    When a short distance from the barn the boy turned back. The barn collapsed and buried the boy in its ruins, killing him instantly, it was thought. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.
