Originally started as a half-joking pop-punk band, Figure 6 has come a long way to meet the world of Screamo, as they call themselves now. Finding a sound not entirely unlike Grade, Jericho, Planes Mistaken for Stars, and even their fellows in Merrimack grind-violence Tears of Avarel, Figure 6 has been able to belt out songs that stick in your mind for days. The main interest VTAG has with F6 is how they wax and wane with their composition, and constantly develop it so it sounds different all the time. Led vocally by DJ and Michael Conrad, their voices hit hard and fleshy, then soft and off-key from time to time. Live, they deliver a good blow to the senses, as DJ is free to move around while he sings and uses the freedom to create chaos as Mike grates his axe. A good band with really great guys in it, F6 looks to be a phenom that should last.
