I use a small heat bent baskin robins spoon. They're the spoons they give you when you want a sample. They work wonderfully.
This is seed mixed with finch pellets. They usually learn to eat seeds first. Millet and sprouts are good weaning foods.
I feed them pritty bird formula with powdered finch pellets mixed in. The formula I use is actually for baby parrots, but since formula for these birds does not seem to exist, it will have to do.
You can use a small food processor to powder the pellets. A fine mesh sifter will separate the chunks from the powdered bits. Once added, it will cause the formula to thicken after standing.
