This is one of the most genuinely simple inventions of the 1800s!!

Mr Peter Weber of St Paul Minnesota thought that an “ endless belt running over two drums and acting in conjunction with a self adjusting reservoir for the liquid to be applied”…. Just look at the drawing and you can see what a big deal this invention was, for the 1870s. Of course his “drums” were rollers and were referred to as rollers later in his claim.

At that time, there were cloth rollers for painting, but none that had the reservoir and an endless belt.
