This Civil War Era 54 caliber 1858 Starr Carbine is in great condition. A real collectors item. I have had it for over 60 years and got it from my grandfather as a boy. As a percussion cap rifle, commonly called a “drop block” rifle, it used a paper wrapped bullet and power combination. When the paper combination was inserted into the receiver and the dropped block was closed, it tore the paper and exposed the powder to the flash from the percussion cap when the trigger was pulled. The serial numbers match on the parts and the rifling is in great shape, as is the original blueing.
