Patent Model Clothes Frame inventor R B Stillman Almond NY 1868 Patent # 78,902
This "folding-bar rack-frame for drying clothes" as the inventor called it, has pivoted hinged bars folded up when not in use. The "bars" have been made of a heavily grained wood, a real piece of art. Mister Stillman of Almond New York thought of "moveable hubs" to be part of the swivel to allow the arm to be widened to allow more room for hanging items.
My photos are not the best, but this model is a beautiful piece of art. The original tag is included.
Richard Babcock Stillman was a member of the well known Stillman family that traces back to England and Europe from the 1400s. A very popular family from the Almond New York area.
