Patent Model Riding stirrup inventor Robert Eagle 1862 Patent # 37,158 NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Improvement in Riding Stirrups New York New York 1862 by Robert Nelson Eagle

Early Model

Mr Nelson wanted to invent “ a stirrup that the tread may assume any inclination desired in a longitudinal, lateral or oblique direction”… He also made provisions for an additional cover(when one is used) that could attach to the top of the stirrup.

Simple design

I have not cleaned the beautiful brass swivels but I am sure that they would ad to the display of this unique model. The wood appears to be of one piece, and has graceful “bends” that add to the quality of the model.
