Patent Model Whip & Rein Holder inventor Nathaniel Robertson and Henry Doll Denver Colorado Patent # 285,161

Photos are poor but the model is in excellent shape. We have been fortunate to have a few of this catagory, each different and unique.

Back in 1883 it was a problem having your whip and your reins fall to the ground all the time. Mt Robertson and Mr Doll invented this whip and rein holder by putting a metal clip on the side of their invention(the whipsocket) it would hold the reins too. They insisted that this device was compact and cheap and presents a neat appearance. It has a built in guide adapted to guide the butt end of the whip down into the socket, which" is of great convenience in putting away the whip while the carriage is in motion".
