There was a time... before refrigeration, that to properly keep a liquid at a temperature so that milk could form cream, a new invention would make it> Patented September 4th 1877 by Mr Edwin W Hoag of Plattsburg New York.

An outer water-vat which could recieve ice and as the ice melted, it could run out a faucet and temper the water in the vat.

Serpentine channel allows water to run toward the over-flow cock.
