Very heavy iron working model. When the large wheel is turned, all the "boxes" with inclined sifting bottoms that allow useless ash to pass through all the lower boxes to be discarded. Different sized mesh is in the boxes and the upper boxes are open at the ends to allow large and small slag to flow to chutes. A very involved model. Mr William Baumann from Pittsburg was granted patent # 167,295 on August 31st, 1875. Pittsburg is the center of the coal industry.
