CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS MANAGEMENT (CISM) TEAM

THE CONCERN

Emergency services personnel have become increasingly aware of the toll that unique occupation-related stressors may have on their quality of life. The very nature of emergency service jobs may expose these individuals routinely, or periodically, to stressful events which they may or may not be able to work through satisfactorily on their own. Factors which cause stress to one individual may not be stressful for another. worker or group of emergency workers.

Fund Raiser for Institute

We would like to ask for your help. We have created a fundraiser to help raise money for the Rocky Mountain Disaster Mental Health Institute in order to promote and support our trainings, workshops and annual Disaster Mental Health Conference and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) trainings for mental health providers and first responders as well as providing debriefings for first responders following incidents by our trained teams around the state, especially in underserved rural areas.

Our fundraiser depends on people like you for support. In an effort to make it convenient for you to donate, we have created our own fundraising web site. You can support our fundraiser by making a secure online donation. Our fundraiser receives 100% of the funds after a 5% bank and processing fee.

We are asking for a $20 donation, but obviously any amount that you can donate would be appreciated.

Please go to our PayPal site by selecting the button below and supporting our fundraiser today.

Thank you for your support and assistance. The Rocky Mountain Region Disaster Mental Health Institute is a 501(c)(3)non-profit tax exempt organization.

Please feel free to call(307-399-4818) or send email rockymountain@mail2emergency.com if you have any questions.

Effects of Hurricane Georges in Puerto Rico September, 1998

The effects of Hurricane Georges in Puerto Rico were some of the worst since Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Hurricane Georges was the first hurricane to cross the entire island since the San Ciprian Hurricane in 1932. Georges formed on September 15, 1998 as Tropical Depression Seven off the African coast. It strengthened into a Category 4-hurricane on September 19 as it made landfall in the Lesser Antilles and made landfall on the island on September 22 as a Category 2-hurricane. Georges caused $1.9 billion (1998 USD, $2.25 billion 2006 USD) in damage to the island.
