As you know, beeswax is the substance honeybees use to
build their honeycombs. It is a natural substance collected as part
of the honey collection process. Beeswax makes excellent candles for
many reasons. It burns longer than paraffin, and generally with less
soot and smoke. It has its own clean, natural scent that is so delightful
without clashing with other household scents. I have found that the
slight increase in price here is well worth it... and my clients seem
to agree!!
I found a fabulous beekeeper in Texas who sells me the
most fragrant, smooth and flawless beeswax I have ever seen. He gives
me a good price on it, too, which makes my beeswax candles more affordable
to the consumer! Why pay more for lower quality? I won't, and I
don't expect my customers to either.
Most of my beeswax candles are poured into tins. This
is for two reasons. The first is safety. Many glass containers
cannot withstand the high heat needed to burn beeswax and breakage
can occur. Secondly, my public loves them! The demand for them has
been great, and the variety of tins available satisfies my need
for creativity as well.
