Mood: irritated
The early morning traffic here in Doha is a nightmare. What was a 20 minute journey 2 weeks ago is now a 45 minute journey of queues and queue jumpers.
I have learned something though. I always thought that the yellow marked inner lane was for emergencies but now I realise it is for Land Cruisers and Mercedes to avoid queuing like normal people. Next time I break down I will pull into the outside lane so I don't get in the way.
During August there was big police blitz on traffic offenders. Strange time to do it when the biggest culprits were away on holiday!!!
I feel that the seat belt and mobile phone usage traffic laws may as well be shelved - at least 50% of drivers are ignoring either or both of them. And nobody seems to care.
And as for lane discipline - well where is it. Drivers in the right lane want to turn left and vice versa. Why are they in the wrong lane in the first place? It was shorter!
Finally, what about the red light jumpers. Next time you are at the lights and you have a green signal look at the faces of the drivers of the 4 or 5 cars the whizz across the front of you. Not a whiff of conscience or realization they have done something wrong. How lovely it must be to go through life not having top care for other people.
Well that's off my chest. it won't make a blind bit of difference but I do feel a little better.
