We will be
proposing this idea to SMRT Corporation Ltd and then set up a website
that provides an easy and convenient method to top up commuters’ EZ-Link
cards from any internet-able computers.
The web
portal allows users to view the company’s profile, check EZ-points,
view previous transactions, check on rider's history, or even top up or
purchase e-Pass online.
If users want to use
the service, they will have to begin by
entering their full name as user ID, and full NRIC number as password.
Then, they will have to choose the bank account that they want to deduct
from, and key in the password to the bank account for verification
purposes and the EZ-Link 9 digits card number.
To provide
consumer a secure and smooth transaction, we will hire top computer
security agencies to protect the website from unauthorized intrusion and
will also use powerful systems to cope with the heavy traffic.
Nowadays,
consumers use EZ-Link cards for many modes of transactions such as
public transport, F&N coca cola vending machine, McDonald restaurants,
12 selected schools, Singapore Pools, Kopitiam and Cathay Cinemas.
With these
commodities, neglecting of topping up their card yet to ensure that they
have sufficient value is not feasible. Thus this idea helps users to top
up their cards and do not need to face the trouble to pay their bus
fares using coins if their EZ-Link cards have low or no value. As a
result, they pay more and it will be highly inconvenient as they may
need to bring extra coins all the time.
Besides that,
the other benefit of this system is that younger kids, whom parents may
give little pocket money, may not have enough money to top up their
cards. Their parents or any family members can get it done for them as
long as they have their card number and NRIC number.
