Goalkeeper: Richard Wright Was never given a chance to establish himself and may yet prove me wrong at Everton, but still a huge disappointment at Highbury. Supposed to replace Arsenal's own Divine Ponytail as number one for club and country, he never convinced, let a last minute equaliser through his hands at Spurs, and ended up struggling to replace Stuart Taylor on the bench. Defender: Nelson Vivas Came to Arsenal as an Argentinian international with over fifty caps and has since held down a first team place at Inter Milan. Never came close to replacing a middle-aged Lee Dixon and probably cost us the title in 98-99 with error at Elland Road. Perhaps he has a twin brother. Defender: Pascal Cygan Billed as the New Tony Adams, turns out he's more like the New Gus Caesar. Prone to careless and costly errors, not as good as Matty Upson, and as quick on the turn as an oil tanker. Defender: Oleg Luzhny Another who tried and failed to replace Lee Dixon, Oleg saved his most inept displays for the centre of defence. Slow and cumbersome, he 'starred' in the infamous 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford along with... Defender: Igors Stepanovs Truly astonishing that a club who at one stage owned most of the central defenders playing in English football could sink so low. Possesses none of the elements needed to play at the highest level. Left Wing: Glenn Helder One of George Graham's last desperate acts as Arsenal manager. Arsenal fans were hoping for a tricky winger who reminded them of Anders Limpar on one ofhis good days. Instead they got an incompetent Dutchman whose hair reminded them of that bloke in Coming To America. Central Midfield: John Jensen One great goal got him his move and that was pretty much all in he produced in the next couple of years. Obviously David Seaman has taken him under his wing, but sadly for John, a comedy porn style moustache and haircut alone didn't justify his place in the team. Central Midfield: David Hillier Possibly one of the main reasons no youth team prospects are given first team action anymore. The descent into non-League (he's now at Barnet) was rapid and relentless. Right Wing: Chris Kiwomya Another last ditch Graham signing who I'm pretty sure played in the Premiership. Could have been worse but wasn't exactly in same class as Pires and Ljungberg. Centre Forward: Kaba Diawara Big and slightly clumsy forward who only lasted a few months until being sold on due to strange preference for continually hitting the woodwork rather than the goal. Had to be shipped on before he caused permanent damage to the goalposts. Centre Forward: Christopher Wreh Actually was George Weah's cousin, but had similar levels of ability to the legendary Ali Dia. Woefully missed an open goal against Man U after Wrighty had beaten most of the side. Amazingly started up front in the Cup Final, and scored winner in the semi. Was still crap. Manager: Bruce Rioch Wasn't actually that bad, but didn't win the title and upset Wrighty. It was enough to get him the sack and therefore enough to get him this job.
