FAQ

1. Do you do any animation or music?

A. No. Personally, I feel that both detract from the purpose of the site, which should emphasize the animals and many, many sites already feature animation and midi use. We reccommend the "no- frills" approach whose aim is focusing on the animals as we believe this yields better results.

2. Do you reccommend buying a domain for my site?

A. This depends on the content of your site. The original idea behind the domain was for advertising. So for example, if you bred Boxers, if you owned the domain "boxers.com" you would get the majority of the traffic seeking sites on Boxers because the internet user's first reaction to search for Boxers would be to enter "www.boxers.com" into their scroll bar. When the internet was young, there were great oppurtunities to get effective domain names for obvious reasons. If you were there the first, you got your first pick on the effective domain name. Today it's quite a bit different. Now let's take a look at the average kennel . . . The average kennel is generally one with a fairly popular breed and that means that the breed name is long since taken for a domain. In the same light, the average kennel is probaly only well known in a relatively small geographic area (if at all). Now let's say that you breed Boxers in Texas and your kennel prefix is "Tex-Box" and you decide to buy the domain "www.texbox.com" or even "www.texasboxers.com" simply because it goes with your prefix. If you own a fairly well known kennel, it might be worth it to get "www.texbox.com" because some internet users may be looking strictly for YOUR kennel. Chances are tho, it's not this way and then so what are the chances of someone entering "www.texbox.com"? The chances are just about nil and hence your money spent on the domain has been wasted simply because your domain is not something that users are strictly searching for and we all know that the $50 you just spent on that domain will buy alot of dog food.  Domains may look proffessional and they may be easy to remember, but unless you have a common keyword for a domain they won't get you visitors.
