1. William Alexander "Bill" Smith was born in 1835 in Cocke Co, TN. He was buried in Smith Cem, Cocke Co, TN. His military records indicated he was born in Cocke Co, TN but census records indicate South Carolina?? He was a Union Army veteran of the Civil War, serving in Co A, 2nd Tenn Volunteer Cavalry. He was not counted with his parents in the 1850 census, should have been (15 years old!). His death date is listed as 31 Jul 1898 but he was still filing C/W pension applications in 1902! Parents: William Smith and Nancy Ramsey.
He was married to Sarah Rollins .
