Jesse Ramsey was born in 1820 in Cocke Co, TN. When their daughter, Annie, died in 1921 her death certificate listed her mother as 'Polly' Webb. Parents: William Ramsey and Mary _____. He was married to Sarah Webb. Children were: Eli Ramsey, Anna Ramsey, Nancy Ramsey, Jane Ramsey, William Ramsey, Delilah "Lila" Ramsey, James Ramsey , Rhoda Ramsey, George W. Ramsey.

Sarah Webb was born in 1821 in Cocke Co, TN. Parents: Joseph Webb and Barsheba "Bashie" Thomas . Joseph Webb was born in 1790. He died after 1874. He was a Private in Capt. John Roper's Company, Tennessee Militia, War of 1812. He enlisted at Dandridge, TN on 8 Oct 1813 and served until 8 Feb 1814. He and his wife are believed to be buried in the Webb Cemetery near the original home site. Parents: Jesse Webb and Anna McMurtry. He was married to Barsheba "Bashie" Thomas about 1816 in Sevier Co, TN. Children were: Eli Webb, Anne Webb, Jesse Webb, Sarah Webb, Elizabeth "Betsy" Webb , William M. Webb, James Webb, Thomas "Tomcat" Webb , John Webb, Nancy Webb, Jane Webb, Mary "Polly" Webb, Christian "Chrisley" Webb.

1. Eli Ramsey was born in 1838 in Tennessee. Eli's first wife was supposedly an Indian woman! Eli does not appear in the 1860 census but does appear in the 1870 Cocke Co, TN census with daughter Elizabeth, who was age 11 (disagrees with her birthdate shown here!) and son James, age 4. Also his household in 1870 but NOT IDENTIFIED as his wife was a 23-year old Mary Grooms and her daughter (?), CANZADA, age 2. In the 1880 census he was counted with wife Mary "Polly" (in some sources her name is given as "Minkley", she was 'Mary' in the census, simply 'Polly' in the marriage records) and the last four children shown here (Elizabeth had married in 1879). It's rather hard to determine which wife to assign some of the children to - the unknown first wife was gone (deceased?) by 1870 he had three more children BEFORE marrying Mary "Polly". The last three children, Canzada in particular, MAY have been known as GROOMS instead of RAMSEY. Parents: Jesse Ramsey and Sarah Webb.

(4) Drewery Francis Jenkins was born on 11 Feb 1873 in Cocke Co, TN. He died on 5 Feb 1949. He was buried in Fowler Cem, Sevier Co, TN. Dora had an earlier marriage to John Barnes, with children. State death records list her year of death as '1915' and her age at time of death as 33, indicating a birth year of 1882. Parents: Austin Jenkins and Jane Ramsey. She was married to William Harrison Garver. Children were: Virginia Garver, Newton "Newt" Garver , Allen Garver, Martha Catherine Garver, Drewie Garver, Oscar Garver, Rachel Garver.

(1) Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gilliland was born in 1868. She died in 1949. Parents: Owen Gilliland and Delilah "Lila" Ramsey. She was married to Sam Gunter on 10 Apr 1892 in Cocke Co, TN. Children were: Jane Gunter.

Funeral services for Mary Oma Holt, 77, of Crossville, who passed away May 16, 1999, were held May 19 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Crossville City Cemetery.
Bros. Paul Holt, Charles Martin, Allen Straw, and Michael Swearengin officiated, with special music by Baxter Hood and Jay Fox.
She was born July 3, 1921 in Cocke County, TN, the daughter of Garfield and Eula Sexton Ramsey. Mrs. Holt was a clerk at Emery 5 & Dime Store, and she was a member of Mayland Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include her daughters, Audrey Norrod and Betty Green, both of Crossville, and Margaret Hood of Kingsport, TN; sons, Richard and Gary Holt, both of Crossville, and Charles Holt of Church Hill, TN; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Mason, Barbara Russell, and Betty Jo Green, all of Newport, TN; and brothers, George, Thomas, and James Ramsey, all of Newport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Holt; sisters, Ida Mae Mason and Beulah Shoemaker; and brother, Herbert Ramsey.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Brian Green, Stacy Holt, David Holt, Lynn Holt, Timothy Holt, Tony Holt, Brad Holt, Paul Holt and Chris Holt. Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

-(7) Ina Mae Ramsey. Parents: Garfield Ramsey and Eula Sexton. She was married to Eugene Mason . Children were: Larry Mason, Imogene Mason.

-(8) Beulah Ramsey. Parents: Garfield Ramsey and Eula Sexton. She was married to Eugene Shoemaker . Children were: Debra Shoemaker, Steve Shoemaker, George Shoemaker.

-(9) Barbara Jean Ramsey Parents: Garfield Ramsey and Eula Sexton. She was married to Hugh William Russell. Children were: Hugh William Russell Jr. , Calvin Wayne Russell, Rick Russell, Jeffrey Scott Russell.

-(10) Betty Ramsey Parents: Garfield Ramsey and Eula Sexton. She was married to Lloyd Green . Children were: Tony Green, Vickie Green.
