Age 17Embracing the Darkness
Lonely halls carry silent ghosts
Faces pasty from shock,
Eyes bloodshot from tears
There is yet another change
Not a gradual, friendly transition
But abrupt, hitting us like a slap in the face
It's blatantly obvious,
So clear what is on the minds
of all those I pass.
"Why again?" Their eyes tell me
The sea of black resembles a bleak planet
The single file line,
a continuous flow through a solitary door,
The frigid air fills up the solemn room.
A sense of release is felt amongst the crowd.
It's over now,
we can continue on, for at least a short while
Until we must once again return
to the lonely state of shock
as youth is lost, as dreams are crushed.
But we're still here,
The remaining few who's jobs now become
to support the feelings of insecurity and loss,
A broken bubble will now be repaired.
Invincibility lost must once again be found
We'll make it through,
We know that now,
But not without pain,
as one by one
We fall to hell.
