"I shall stand my ground
Govern my hatred
Master my fury
And scatter foes to the wind."
--John Brucato, "Bastet" (The Warrior's Chant)
Julianna's had her past dissappointments and problems to deal with (yeah, well, getting mobbed and executed should count for a big problem and dissappointment! :P), and it, along with the tales by the fireside that currently only Lady Van Tassel knows of, are an eternal memory to her.
A note: I made a little rule of thumb concerning language. Certainly, both the Hessian and Julianna speak German more often than English, but if they would be talking like that all the time the translations would make your head spin. (Bah, bad choice of words, huh?)
So, if them, or any Germans are amongst themselves only, I wrote the dialogue in English, but they should actually be considered speaking German (call it a dub).
If an Englishman or American is among them or talking to them, the German text is actually in German, with the translations, so there's the obvious difference between languages. Make sense....? **hopeful** If not, just e-mail me 'bout it. :P
Mask and Blade
The first story I've started so far for her. Bear with me. It was inspired reading the Bastet Sourcebook for Werewolf-The Apocalypse. What this means to you, the reader, is that there's two ongoing timelines. Some paragraphs take place more than 20 years before the Sleepy Hollow story, others are a few weeks after the occurences.
The one 20 years ago is described at another regular meeting of the Hessian mercenaries, telling metaphorical stories to one another, disguising their own life in symbolism and riddle. Sometimes, on the other hand, however, they're just telling of the tales on the battlefield. Of the spirits they believe roam there, of the wisdom to be found in bloody conflict. One can never be too sure if the wolf Julianna is talking about is her father or a spirit, a make-believe or the truth.
The one a few weeks after takes place late one night in New York, in Ichabod, Katrina's and Masbeth's apartment, where Ichabod can't sleep and Julianna appears out of nowhere to actually just bring him a message, but is in the end convinced enough that Ichabod is to be trusted, and tells of her life and death.
There's a LOT of so-called "Glyphs" everywhere. They're those
symbols that look like claw scratches in neat-o designs. Each
of 'em has a hidden meaning, of course, and you can see what each
glyph stands for if you put the mouse cursor on the graphic, a little
text box'll pop up and translate it. :)
INTRODUCTIONCHAPTER 1CHAPTER 2CHAPTER 3
I'm currently working on the last bit of Chapter Four, the grand finale.
Patience. :)
I got all of the lil' glyph things in the stories from
Ldy Mox' WoD Graphics Page. Excellent site! :)
Lastly, here's a little spoof I've come up with for some reason even I'M not quite sure of, it's a song, actually, supposevley "sung" (yeah, right. Note the sarcasm) by the Hessian and Julianna - to the tune of "Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer". Don't worry, it's not as bad as you may think. At least, so I'm told. View It.
