So you want a ranger eh? Strong choice, rangers are usually like warriors with spells, and that's an intense combination. Ranger spells are quite good, and they are skilled with combat as well.

Stats

Ok, the prime stats for rangers are constitution and wisdom. I recommend dwarves and humans for rangers. Now, for the stats themselves, you'll want aura the highest, discipline second, dexterity third (Note, dexterity rises very slowly on rangers, if you choose a race with low dext you may want to switch dext with aura or discipline.) and wisdom fourth, since it is your mana stat. After that you'll want intelligence, then logic since they rise slowly. After those you'll want strength, and then reflexes. Next, would come charisma, and then constitution since it will be your fastest rising stat. That's all on stat placement.

Training

Ok, right away double edged weapons, single combat maneuvers, shield use, armor, and physical training. afterwards, double hiding, and single ambushing. after these, single climbing, perception, and first aid. Save the rest of your points, and yes I know there are many left. On your next training get the first ranger spell, and get them all until 625, then switch to minor spirit, and once you have wall of force go back to ranger for life so you get +1 td every level. Now the reason you saved those points was so that you could keep your regimen and just add spells. Hopefully, your stats will rise and you will gain points so that once your extra supply runs out you can afford it on your own. That's all on training.

Hunting Tactics

Rangers have a very self-sufficient lifestyle. they can spell themselves up well, then hunt like a warrior, and that's the exact style i use. just spell yourself up while you're out in the field, and keep refuelin the spells until you're fried. This ability to spell up will give you a step-up on warriors, and if you follow my advice you'll be able to hide and ambush, a step-up on rogues as well. That's all on hunting tactics.
