Period One: History/Social Science

The first step to becoming a suitable roleplayer is to have a character to RP! AOL RP is different from video and/or board RPG because you get to make-up your own character insdtead of choosing from what's avaliable.
Before I go any further, I have best explain the basic history of the AOL RP. Prepare for a lecture covering the past few years. (Just skim this.)

In the beginning...there was nothing. Then, the Internet was created. A vast sea of websites.
Then, AOL sprouted out.
The first chats were basically people talking to each other and such. Then, the role playing chats came into the Member Rooms under the Arts and Entertainment section. They were mainly of the Medivial and Vampiric kind. Then, the realm of Rhy'din was created, a world and a way of life in itself. Then, fan RPG came around like Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z.
Which brings us to now. A buzzing universe of several types of RPGs going all on at once.
ACK!

::wacks them over the head with a meter stick to make sure they are still paying attention:: Anyway, consider these three "areas" when deciding on your character:
Knowing this, you should already have an idea where you shall be. But, that doesn't restrict you to that one area. My example character, is suitable for all 3. Just think about it before you be a Pikachu and you want to go into Vampire Tavern. Either have multiple characters with a screen name for each, have a sub-character (to be taught in period 2), or be a Pikachu/Human hybrid. Be creative.

Period 2: English/Language Arts

Now that you have a character in mind, we can write a profile for him/her. My example character has a Roleplaying Profile. In order to be considered a serious RPer you have to have a Roleplaying Profile. For some reason you can't make one, I suggest making a website and having your profile there. Either way, I'm going over the simple profile, if you want more sophisticated ones, I suggest you take the Creative Writing course.
1. Your character's Name. Obviously, your char needs a name.
Example:Kathleen Rosalyn Petersberg
2. Your character's Location. Your character most likely lives somewhere. Or maybe s/he's a drifter.
Example:Born and raised in Santa Monica CA, educated in Hong Kong, and now resides anywhere her many visas and passports will take her.
3. Your character's Birthday. Your character was born sometime, whether a few weeks to a few millenium ago. Or maybe s/he doesn't know.
Example:2/21/not telling you
4. Your character's Sex. -.- Obviously it's a he or she. Hopefully anyway...
Example:Female
5. Your character's Hobbies. Maybe it's collecting coins. Maybe it's killing people...Whatever you decide.
Example:Hacking into off-shore accounts.
6. Your character's Computer. Most likely s/he has access to a comp. Or maybe not. Maybe they don't exist where they reside...
Example:Sleek, black lap-top with a rose emblem on top.
7. Your character's Occupation. S/he has a job. It might be bagging groceries at the local Quik-E-Mart or a prince from some far away planet.
Example:Formerly a secret agent, now a freelance mercenary.
8. Your character's Personal Quote. Preferibly something short and sweet while reflecting on your character's personality.
Example:Beauty is the Body's intelligence. So, can't you see I excel in Body as well as Mind?
Under the Personal Quote section, in mun-bubbles (to be explained in period 3), you should state that your profile is a role-playing one, and also state what terms you accept. For the time being, I suggest that you accept no terms until you know what each one is and their significance and how they will affect you.
Example:((RP Profile: No terms accepted))
