The word Reiki is comprised of
two Japanese words. Rei can be defined as an infinite, all knowing,
Higher Intelligence that manages the functioning of the universe and all
in it. Ki is the usually non-physical energy that animates all living
things. Ki is also Chi in Chinese, prana in Sanskrit, and has also been
called odic force, bioplasma and life force. It flows through us, around
us, animates all that live.
Good health comes from the Ki that flows through and around the
individual rather than from the condition of the physical organs and
tissues. Ki animates the organs and tissues as it nourishes them. When
the flow is disrupted, the organs and tissues will eventually cease to
be healthy. It is disruption in Ki flow that is the root of illness.
The reason Reiki is a more effective method of energy work is that it is
guided by this Higher Intelligence, and knows exactly where to go and
how to respond to that which restricts the flow of Ki.
As Reiki flows through an afflicted area, it clears and washes away any
emotional blockages or harmful thought forms that might exist in that
area of the subtle body. This restores the natural and healthy flow of
Ki. When this occurs, the afflicted area becomes properly nourished with
Ki and begins or resumes functioning in a harmonious healthful way,
ridding us of the illness or malady.
This is a non-invasive benign method. It is an alternative that is
becoming more and more popular. As western medicine continues to expand
it's exploration of alternative methods of healing, Reiki is proving to
hold an important role as an valuable, accepted practice of healing.

AZ Usui Reiki Gakkai

Concerning the origins of Reiki and it's guidelines, we have
been told that Dr. Mikao Usui was a follower of Christianity and
had been the president of Doshisha University of Kyoto, Japan.
We were told that he had received a degree in theology from the
University of Chicago and also that Reiki was an oral tradition;
that we must always charge a fee for Reiki healing sessions;
that we must charge a fee of $10,000 for the master level
attunement and that there is an actual Grandmaster of Reiki who
presides over the Usui system. Recent verifiable research into
the origins, history and practice of Reiki has disclosed that
all of these statements are false.
