RED CAP SWITCH--- After you get several stars you will notice the floor right as you enter the castle has a light shining right down on it from above. Positon yourself under the light and then look straight up with the C buttons. After a second you will be transported to the red switches platform.
Star-Collect all eight red coins. It is easiest to circle around counter clockwise and get the highest coins first and the lowest coins last. This one may take a little effort.
GREEN CAP SWITCH-The green cap switch is in the hazy maze cave (level 6). To get it, go to the left, do a long jump, and enter the door. Follow the path over to the right, and do a long jumpover to where the rolling rocks are, run up the hill and over to the right, and go in the door. Take the elevator down. Run down into the water, and climb up the tail and onto the back of the big seacreature down there. If you do a butt-slam on his back, he lowers his head so you can climb on it.It's a little easier to steer and jump off of when you're on top. Anyway, steer him over to the chunkof land with the red stuff sticking out horizontally. NOT the one with the red stuff blocking the door. Go inside the door, and into the cap switch level. Just run and long jump to the left, but don'tfall into the water unless you're metal, because the current will sweep you away over the waterfall,and you'll be outside the castle. Just carefully make your way over to the switch, and hit it.
Star-Collect all of the eight coins in this level AFTER you get the green switch block. This way you can become Metal Mario and easily navigate through the water to get the red coins. Be careful not to fall back outside the castle over the waterfall!
BLUE CAP SWITCH- Go down into the basement. Then enter the door that doesn't have a star on it. There will be water, but swim through the water until you come up 2 pillars sticking out of the water. Butt stomp on each of the pillars and the water level will drop. Now the moat around the castle is no longer filled with water. Drop down the whole nearby the waterfall. Work your way through the level to the very end where you will find the Blue Switch.
Star-Get all of the red coins in the Blue Switch World. Right at the beginning it is easiest if you switch to Mario's view and look down before jumping to each platform.
