WARNING!
This Campaign may not be for everyone. It will deal with some serious topics, including, drugs, prostitution, murder, etc. The language may also be slightly stronger than the average campaign.

Campaign Description: Shades of Grey is a lower-powered, vigilante style campaign based around a small group of heroes who have had enough and are taking the law into their own hands, trying to clean up their city.

Importance of the Player Characters: Very Important. While there are other heroes in the world, the player characters are effectively central to everything in this campaign. Outside of their own city, they don't get very much recognition.

World Description: The Global Guardians Universe is a four-color comic book world full of larger than life characters.  Technology is more advanced that the real world, and magic is real.  Aliens and creatures of legend roam the earth.

The Story So Far: The four members of this team were brought together by their common belief that the Criminal Justice system simply isn't working. They've decided to take matters into their own hands and have formed a team that has claimed the city of Vancouver, Canada as their own.

Their goal is to bring down the crime rate, and they don't mind getting their hands a little dirty.

Local Relations: Strained. Local Law enforcement agencies have taken a stance that the team are themselves jut another form of criminal. The official police line is that the heroes are wanted for questioning, but individual officers don't always enforce that edict. Many are sympathetic to the heroes cause. Local media have painted the heroes in a less-than-favorable light as well.

Morality: Shades of Grey has some cross-over between good and evil. The heroes are not always concerned with the consequences of their actions. they behave more in the vein of 'the ends justify the means'. They do what they do for "the public good".

Realism: Strong. The heroes spend most of their time in and around some very bad situations. Action sequences will be cinematic and descriptive. Characters likely won't die unless they show themselves to be too stupid to live or are going out in a blaze of glory. Roleplaying is the core of this campaign.

Outlook: Ultimately positive, but with dark moments along the way. The Heroes may suffer some defeats, but should bounce back.

Seriousness: The game deals with some very serious subjects and storylines will reflect this. While the overall tone of the campaign is fairly serious, there will be plenty of room for humor. After all, different heroes deal with stress in different ways.

Continuity: The game will be entirely serial. Player actions in one scenario will have effects on later scenarios, and continuity will be enforced. Adventures will move linearly through time, bad guys will remember who you are and what you did to them, and the press will print your exploits for the world to see.

Building a Character for Shades of Gray

The most important thing to remember when submitting a character for "shades of Grey" is that the characters are still heroes, even though they sometime operate on the outside edge of the law. They are not criminals. These are slightly above average people who've decide to use their powers to do what they feel the legal system is not. These heroes are not glory seekers and are not the 'larger than life' type of hero.

All 'Shades of Grey' characters should follow these guidelines:

  • Starting Points: 150
  • Maximum Disadvantages: 150
  • Maximum Points from one Category of Disadvantages: 50
  • Maximum Active Points for Any One Power: 45
