THE TURKEY
Richard Digance
Turkey's don't like Christmas,
which may come to no surprise.
They say why don't human beings
pick on someone their own size.
To sit beside potatoes
in an oven can't be fun,
so a turkey is quite justified
to feel he's being done.
THE KITTEN AT PLAY
William Wordsworth
See the kitten on the wall,
Sporting with the leaves that fall,
Withered leaves, one, two, and three
Falling from the elder tree,
Through the calm and frosty air
Of the morning bright and fair.
See the kitten, how she starts,
Crouches, stretches, paws and darts;
With a tiger-leap half way
Now she meets her coming prey.
Lets it go as fast and then
Has it in her power again.
Now she works with three and
four,
Like an Indian conjurer;
Quick as he in feats of art,
Gracefully she plays her part;
Yet were gazing thousands there;
What would little tabby care?
THE MYSTERIOUS CAT
Vachel Lindsay
I saw a proud, mysterious cat,
I saw a proud, mysterious cat,
Too proud to catch a mouse or rat-
Mew, mew, mew.
But catnip she would eat, and
purr,
But catnip she would eat, and purr.
And goldfish did she much prefer-
Mew, mew, mew.
I saw a cat-'twas but a dream,
I saw a cat-'twas but a dream,
Who scorned the slave who brought her cream-
Mew, mew, mew.
Unless the slave was dressed in
style,
Unless the slave was dressed in style,
And knelt before her all the while-
Mew, mew, mew.
Did you ever hear of a thing
like that?
Did you ever hear of a thing like that?
Did you ever hear of a thing like that?
Oh, what a proud, mysterious cat.
Oh, what a proud, mysterious cat.
Oh, what a proud, mysterious cat.

WORDS
Cowboy Take Me Away
I Said I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly
I wanna sleep on the hard ground
In the comfort of your arms
On a pillow of bluebonnets
In a blanket made of stars
Oh it sounds so good to me I said
Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above
Closer to you closer to you
I wanna walk and not run
I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizon
And not see a building standing tall
I wanna be the only one
for miles and mile
Except for maybe you
And your smile
Oh it sounds so good to me
Yes it sounds so good to me
Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above
Closer to you closer to you
Cowboy Take Me Away
I Said I wanna touch the earth
I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly
Oh it sounds so good to me
Cowboy take me away
Fly this girl as high as you can
Into the wild blue
Set me free oh I pray
Closer to heaven above
Closer to you closer to you
Closer to you
Cowboy take me away,
Closer to you
Goodbye Earl

Mary Anne and Wanda were the best of friends
All through their high school days
Both members of the 4H Club
Both active in the FFA
After graduation Mary Anne went out lookin'
for a bright new world
Wanda looked all around this town
an all the found was Earl
Well it wasn't two weeks
after she got married that
Wanda started gettin' abused
She put on dark glasses and longed sleeved blouses
And make-up to cover a bruise
Well she finally go the nerve to file for divorce
She let the law take it from there
But Earl walked right through that restraining order
And put her in intensive care
Right away Mary Anne flew in from
Atlanta
On a red eye midnight flight
She held Wanda's hand as they
worked out a plan
And it didn't take 'em long to decide
That Earl had to die
Goodbye Earl
Those black-eyed peas
They tasted all right to me Earl
You're feelin' weak
Why don't you lay down
and sleep Earl
Ain't it dark
Wrapped up in that tarp Ear;
The cops came by to bring earl in
They searched the house
high and low
Then they tipped their hats
and said "thank you ladies
if you hear from him let us know"
Well the weeks went by and
Spring turned to summer
And summer faded into Fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
who nobody missed at all
So the girls bought some land
and a roadside stand
Out on highway 109
They sell Tennessee ham
and strawberry jam
And they don't lose any sleep at night 'cause
Earl had to die
Goodbye Earl
We need a break
Let's go out to the lake Earl
We'll pack a lunch
And stuff you in the trunk Earl
Will is that all right
Good let's go for a ride Earl
hey

She doesn't own a dress
Her hair is always a mess
Catch her stealin, she won't confess
She's beautiful
Smokes a pack a day
Wait thats me, but anyway
She doesn't care a thing about that (hey)
She thinks I'm beautiful
Meet Virginia
She never compromises-
Loves babies and surprises
Wears high-heels when she exercises
Ain't that beautiful?
Meet Virginia
Well, she want to be the Queen
And she thinks about her scene
Pulls her hair back as she screams:
I don't really want to be the queen
Daddy wrestles alligators
Momma works on carburetors
Brother is a fine mediator
For the President
Here she is again on the phone
Just like me hates to be alone
We just like to sit at home
And live on the President
Meet Virginia
Well she wants to live her life
And she thinks about her life
Pulls her hair back as she screams:
I don't really want be the Queen
She only drinks coffee at midnight
When the moment is not right
And the timing is quite unusual
You see her confidence is tragic
But her intuition magic
And the shape of her body- unusual
Meet Virginia
I can't wait to meet Virginia
Well, she wants to be the queen
And she thinks about her scene
Well she wants to live her lies
And she thinks about her lies
Pulls back her hair as she screams:
I don't really want to be the queen

Staring at the dark again
You left you silhouette upon my pillow (yeah hey)
Right inside the night I'm waiting for the light
Seems like I'm in the middle (yeah hey)
Working for something I can't touch
And sometimes can't even believe in (whoa oh)
Cradled by the hands of faith
The faith that sometimes wraps around too tight (so tight)
They call me free- But I call me a fool
(yeah hey)
They call me free- But I call me a fool (hey hey)
Well I'll look back at you (oh)
But you won't look back at me
So I pray- he'll make the children stay
She just came to watch and to see (away)
They call me free- But I call me a fool
(yeah hey)
They call me free- But I call me a fool (hey hey)
Slip down to Mexico
Started messin with a yellow haired girl
Slips down to the pie machine
Started talk 'bout ____
Slip down to Africa
Started talkin bout when we can
And here we are again-
Back where we started
Slip down to the dark again
You left your silhouette on my pillow (yeah hey)
Well I'm right inside the night I'm
waiting for the light
Seems like I'm in the-
