Part 89

Mack glared at him, “This!” she said throwing the magazine at him. A.J. looked at the magazine and then looked up, “read it!” Mack said grabbing the jacket and almost attacking it.

A.J. scanned the article, his face looking confused and then his features relaxed as he found the center of Mack’s frustration. He handed the magazine back to Alex, “Well, it’s to be expected.” Mack glared up at him, “You come with us a lot, it is only normal for them to assume. We did say we were just friends and they usual take that as a cover up. Besides, what’s so bad about being my girlfriend?” He asked

Mack only continued to glare at him, “No comment.”

The guys went back to there game and Alex watched Mack for a minute before asking, “Why aren’t you and A.J. a couple?”

Mack dropped the jacket in her lap and looked out over the fairway for a minute before answering, “A.J. and I are really close, almost like brother and sister, and I love him as if he was my brother. My mom is single just like his mom and so we all hang out sometimes. It’s as close to a normal family as we can get. I think if A.J. and I made our relationship any more, it would ruin what we have.” She watched A.J. goof off for a minute and then laughed, “Besides, we’d kill each other.”

Alex smiled but didn’t say anything. She did realize that A.J. and Mack had something really special. She looked over at Nick and smiled, wondering if they would ever be that close, or maybe they already were, “Well, I still think it would be a match made in heaven.” Alex said softly. It only got Mack laughing

“Hey Alex, why don’t you play? I bet you got an awesome swing.” A.J. yelled as Kevin hit his ball towards the green

Alex shook her head, “I don’t like golf.”

“Oh come on!” A.J. urged

Alex started to get up and Mack stopped her, “What are you going to do?”

Alex smiled, “You’ll see.”

Alex walked over to where the guys were standing, “I bet you can’t make it to the green.” Nick said sarcastically

Alex yanked the club away from him and then looked at it. It was a 9 iron. What Nick was doing with a 9 iron this far out she had no idea, “You boys want to see my version of golf?”

A.J. nodded saying, “Show us what ya got.”

Alex picked up a golf ball and looked at it for a minute, then she looked at the club. She glanced back at the guys and smiled. She looked past them to see Mack watching her, she must have realized what Alex was going to do because she grinned. Alex threw the ball up in the air and swung at it. It made a perfect connection. Alex watched as the ball plopped onto the green and rolled only inches from the hole. She heard Mack clapping wildly. She turned to find the guys all starring at her, “How on earth did you hit that?!” A.J. asked astonished. Nick’s mouth was hanging open and she didn’t think he even realized. Kevin and Howie were just starring at the green and Brian gave her a huge grin.

Alex shrugged, “It’s just hand-eye coordination.”

A.J. walked up and threw the ball in the air and swung at it, he missed, “it’s only like an inch wide, how did you hit that? He asked himself more than Alex.

Alex started to walk back to where Mack was sitting but she stopped by Nick, “I hit it and made it to the green.” She breathed and then went and sat back down.

Mack was hoping up and down, “That was so cool. I can’t believe you did that. You should have seen the look on their faces.”

Alex simply picked up her magazine and went back to reading, “They needed a little grounding. After all, they are all pretty good at being bad.”

Mack burst out laughing knowing that what Alex said was true. The guys started back to the golf carts to go to the next hole and Mack hopped out, “I think I’ll ride with A.J., he needs a good talking too.”

Alex smiled and went back to her magazine. Nick climbed in and slowly stepped on the gas. He reached his arm across the seat and Alex looked over the top of her magazine. Then in one move Nick pulled her over next to him, “Hey.”

She kept on reading, “Hey.”

“You know what?”

“I’m afraid I only know who and when.” Nick rolled his eyes over her sarcasm. She put the magazine down and looked up at him, “What?”

He looked down at her and grinned, “I love you, you know that?”

“You better.” Alex said laughing and slipping her arm thru his.

Nick stopped as they arrived at the next tee box. He climbed out and kissed Alex on the cheek, “You’re to good for me.” He said as he followed the other guys.

Mack walked back over and sat down, “PDA, I’m ashamed.”

Alex laughed, “Ashamed or jealous?” Mack stopped and gave her a hard look but Alex just smiled, “You know I’m just kidding.”

**1 week later**

Mack stepped off of the plane right after Alex, “I’m bored, what are we going to do?” Mack asked

The guys were flying to Canada to start the North American tour, and Alex had invited Mack home with her to help her start decorating there house, “Well, you want to go to the apartment and drop your stuff off, or go see the house?”

Mack looked thoughtful, “We can drop our stuff off first.”

They made their way to get their luggage and headed to the parking garage where Alex’s Explorer waited, “Nice car.”

“Thanks.” Alex said climbing into the driver’s seat. They drove over to the apartment and unloaded their stuff. They climbed up the stairs and Alex unlocked the door, “The room that you can sleep on is to the right.”

“Okay, thanks.” Mack said as she made her way down the hall. She opened the door and found a guy putting his shirt on.

She screamed and Alex came running, “What’s wro…Colby, what are you doing?”

“What do you mean, ‘what are you doing’? I’m in my room trying to get dressed.

Alex glared at him, “Well, I didn’t think you would be here, I thought you might have gone home.”

“Well, I’m here.”

“Then we’ll just stay over at the house tonight. Colby, this is Mackenzie, Mackenzie, this is Colby.”

Colby grinned, “Hey Mack, how goes it?”

Mack rolled her eyes and looked at Alex, “It has to be a guy thing.”

They walked off leaving Colby, “What? What did I say?”

Mack and Alex loaded their stuff back up and headed towards the house, “Well, I know we will have to buy a bed today.”

“How come?” Mack asked

“Because we will need somewhere to sleep.”
