Part 69

Alex didn’t move, she didn’t want to, ever. Staying right here in Nick’s arms for forever would have been divine, but then a voice over the intercom brought her back from lala land, “That’s my plane.”

Nick didn’t let go, “Are you still leaving?”

Alex pulled back a little to look up at him, “There are still somethings I need to think about.”

Nick nodded, he didn’t understand and he didn’t want her to go, but if she needed some space he would give it to her. He leaned down and kissed her before he dropped his arms from around her.

Alex giggled, “That’s why I have to get away.”

Nick didn’t find it humorous, “Why, because you don’t like it when I kiss you?”

Alex smiled, “How’s a girl suppose to think when you go around kissing her and making her all dizzy?” Nick didn’t say anything but looked out the window. “I got an apartment.”

“Yeah, you said something about it in the letter.”

“I’m going to try to move in before this weekend is over. Shouldn’t be to hard because most of my stuff is still packed.” Nick nodded but didn’t look at her. Alex fished in her bag and pulled out a pen and a piece of paper she wrote something down on it and handed it to Nick

“What’s this?” He asked

“It’s my new address. Give me a day or two to move in and then come by. Then we can talk.” Nick still didn’t say anything but simply nodded. A voice came over the intercom for the last call to board, “I better be going.”

“Okay.” Nick said giving her one last hug. She gave him a quick kiss and turned to go board. Nick watched her disappear among the people and the turned to look out the window.

Alex looked out the window at the clouds that drifted by. All kinds of thoughts ran thru her head. Thoughts of when she first saw Nick, running in to him at the grocery store, their first ‘date’ if you could even call it that, their trips to Disney World, and all kinds of crazy things they had done over the past 2 years. She didn’t regret a minute of it, and would trade it for anything. “You make me who I am Lexi.” Alex ran over what Nick had said time and time again until she realized he had made just as big of an impact on her life as she had made in his.

Nick walked out of the elevator only to collide with Brian and Kristen.

“NICK” they both said in unison

“What?”

“What happened?” Kristen asked

“I would rather not talk about it.” He said walking past them.

“I don’t think this is a good sign.” Kristen said watching him walk back to his room

“I’ll try to talk to him later.” Brian said

Nick went into the hotel room and shut the door. He looked at the boxes Alex had left and then went and looked out the window. He couldn’t forget the way she looked last night, the smell of her hair, the sound of her laugh. He then realized that Alex was his world, and the only life he wanted to live was with her. He looked at the paper she had handed him and then turned it over. It was an old receipt for something. I love Nick was written on all four-corners. He smiled and then shoved it back into his pocket.

It had been 3 days since she had left LA. Now Alex sat in the middle of the floor in her new apartment and looked at the boxes that needed to be unpacked. She had gone thru it with Amy and was thankful not to have to share a room with her any longer. Amy had asked Alex more than half a million times who the girl with Nick at the awards was. Alex had simply said she didn’t know, but Amy didn’t leave it at that. Colby had showed up soon after to help her transport all her boxes. He had left right after having a class to get to and now she sat alone and started to unpack. She smiled as she pulled a framed picture of she and Nick at Disney World out of the box, soon followed by the picture he had drawn for her. Then she realized that everything in that box had a connection to Nick in some form or another. She looked at the contents for what seemed like hours, before realizing that Nick hadn’t called or anything. She looked at the picture again before she got up and left, locking the door behind her. She needed to see Nick, she needed to talk to him, and now was as good as time as any, if he was home at least. She drove up to the gate and surprisingly it was open. She saw Nick getting out of his truck, parking her car she got out and ran towards him. As Alex flew into his arms Nick dropped the grocery sack he was holding and tried to catch his balance. Alex just wrapped her arms around his neck a little tighter, “Hi, we need to talk.”

Nick was still a little confused to what just had happened, “Um, okay.”
