It had been 3 weeks since Nick and Alex had talked about some time apart, Nick had called her several times, everything seemed fine, and now Alex was loading the last of her things into her Explorer. She was leaving Orlando, for the time being, and she was depressed all ready. She looked at her room, all her pictures and trinkets were packed away. She smiled, and then thought of everything that was waiting in Tampa, including Nick.
She hugged her parents and her siblings and said goodbye. Her mom began the ‘my baby’s going off to school yadedadeda’ and her dad just smiled. Alex couldn’t stand it anymore and had to leave. On her way out of town she drove by her high school, it seemed so long ago that she had been just a normal student, or was she ever normal? She couldn’t even remember what life was like before Nick, was that a bad thing? She didn’t want to think about the past anymore, she was thinking of everything that was waiting for her.
Alex carried a book up to her dorm room and set it on the bed that she assumed was hers. She was almost done unpacking the car when someone came in, “Oh hi, you’re here.”
Alex looked up to find a short blond looking at her, “I take it you’re my room mate?”
“Yes, I got here this morning.”
“Where are you from?” Alex asked pulling the picture Nick had made her out of the box and tacking it to the wall.
“Oh, I’m from Tampa. Where are you from? I’m Amy by the way. ”
“Orlando, Alex.” Alex turned around to be caught off guard by Nick, or a huge poster of him.
Amy saw her expression and laughed, “Isn’t he cute?” she giggled
Alex looked down at her stuff, “Umm, yeah.”
Amy started to babble on about the Backstreet Boys as she put up more posters. Alex couldn’t decide if Nick or Brian was her favorite, but she knew that things were going to be interesting. She sighed and headed back down to her car to get the rest of her stuff. She was thrilled to find a cute blond leaning against her car, “Well, its about time.” Nick said grinning at her.
She giggled as he kissed her, “I had almost forgotten that you were a good kisser.” Nick gave her a shy smile and helped her with the last two boxes. They were almost back to her dorm room when Alex remembered Amy, “Nick wait!” it was too late. Nick had opened the door. As soon as Amy saw him she shrieked, and threw herself at him. Nick was startled and dropped the box as Amy jumped at him. “What the…?!?”
“OMIGOD, it’s you!! I mean, you are Nick Carter!! Will you marry me?!? Maybe we should go out first…” Amy rambled on as Nick put her down.
Alex was still standing in the doorway trying not to drop the heavy box. “Nick?” She said as the box began to slip.
Nick turned around and took box, “Where do you want it?”
“Just put it on the bed.” She answered
Nick put the box on the bed and then picked up the one he had dropped, “Bed?” Alex nodded
“You two know each other?” Amy asked crossing her arms.
Alex looked at Nick and then answered, “Yeah, we’re friends.” She pulled off her ring and dropped it in her open bag that was setting on the bed.
“Oh.” Was all Amy said as she watched them carefully.
“I guess I’ll be going now.” Nick said looking at Alex
“Oh, okay. I’ll walk down with you.”
“Do you want to go out sometime?” Amy asked
Nick looked at her for a moment before realizing she was asking him out, “Uhh, I don’t know, maybe.”
Amy nodded, “Okay, I love you!” Amy yelled after him, Nick smiled but didn’t say anything.
Nothing was really said as they walked down to where Nick’s truck was parked, “Mom wanted me to invite you for dinner, but if you don’t want to, I understand.”
“I’d love too.”
“I have some stuff to do, so why don’t I just pick you up around 4.”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting.” Alex said smiling
“Oh yeah and one more thing…” nick said climbing into his truck
“What?” Alex asked
“I love you.”
Alex laughed, “Well, unfortunately, I love you back.”
Nick grinned, “Have fun with Amy.” he said with an evil grin
“Oh shut up!” Alex said sticking her tongue out
“I’ll see ya later Lex.” With that he drove off leaving Alex in a fit of smiles.
