My Fractured Life in Top 25 Entertainment Biographies

SEATTLE (October 30, 2003) "My Fractured Life" by Rikki Lee Travolta has climbed into the Top 25 Entertainment Biographies as ranked by e-commerce retailer Amazon.com.

Figures published by Amazon.com as of October 29, 2003 show growth of over 852,000 positions in its official sales rank by Travolta's "My Fractured Life" from the month of September.

Sharing the upper echelon of Biography sales charts are "Kate Remembered" by A. Scott Berg about the life of Katharine Hepburn, "Paige by Paige: A Year on Trading Spaces" by television host Paige Davis, and "Journals" by late Seattle rocker Kurt Cobain.

Travolta's "My Fractured Life" details the world of has-been and never-were actors struggling for survival in the underbelly of Hollywood.

Although his film and television credits include work with Ron Howard, Jenna Elfman, and Elizabeth Hurley; like "Producers" star Nathan Lane, Travolta is most recognized for his stage performances. Travolta has defined the title role in "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" in cities around the world, making it the longest running stage comedy in history.

Travolta is one of the most famous guest stars in the history of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat." Other worldwide alumni include Donny Osmond, Sam Harris, Michael Damien, and Brian Lane Green. In December 2002 Stephen Gately of Pop music's Boyzone fame played the title role in Bill Kenwright's newest London mounting of the musical.

In 2002 Travolta became the first member of his family to star in the lead role of Danny Zuko in "Grease" in over 25 years. His appearance raised money to fund fine arts programs for underprivileged youths. In response, Round Lake, IL mayor Bill Gentes proclaimed February 28th as an official holiday honoring Travolta.

One of the few books to appeal to cross-genre audiences, "My Fractured Life" is simultaneously ranked on Amazon.com's Contemporary Fiction Charts. Reports show the book shares popularity among those customers also purchasing the New York Times bestsellers "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd, "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, and "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel.

"This was another great quarter for Amazon.com, driven by our customers' taking advantage of our lower prices, free shipping and expanded selection," said Tom Szkutak, Amazon.com's chief financial officer, during a conference call with the media.

During the month of October Amazon.com has had to replenish its inventory of the Travolta book eight times due to escalating sales. Barnes and Nobel was forced to network with multiple independent booksellers to cover demand during the month when sales depleted its entire warehouse inventory.

Amazon.com offers Travolta's "My Fractured Life" to International audiences through www. Amazon.com (United States), www.Amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom), www.Amazom.de (Germany), www.Amazon.fr (France), www.Amazon.co.jp (Japan), and www.Amazon.ca (Canada).
