Rikki Lee Travolta Makes Chicago Bulls Appearance

As the Chicago Bulls reinvent their on court image under new coach Scott Skiles and General Manager John Paxon, high profile entertainer Rikki Lee Travolta appears to endorse the team on behalf of the city's entertainment community.

CHICAGO (January 12, 2004) - As a part of their "History in the Making" season, the Chicago Bulls hosted actor Rikki Lee Travolta as a courtside guest at the United Center for its January 9 competition against the visiting Portland Trailblazers.

Travolta was shown by broadcaster Fox Sports Net interacting with fans, actively rooting on the players, and leading a barrage of dog barks in favor of Jerome Williams who goes by the nickname "The Junkyard Dog."

Fox Sports Net features a four tiered broadcaster format for its Chicago Bulls coverage. Damon Andrews and Norm Van Lier provide pre- and post-game analysis. Tom Dorr and Johnny "Red" Kerr announce the games.

At the top of the season, Travolta provided personally endorsed copies of his novel "My Fractured Life" to each of the Bulls players and coaching staff. Then-coach Bill Cartwright was so taken with the book, he provided autographed memorabilia from his championship playing days in gratitude.

One of the Top Ten Entertainment Biographies ranked by Amazon.com, "My Fractured Life" features cover art exclusively in the team colors of the Chicago Bulls. Travolta personally insisted on the Bulls tribute cover art.

A likeable and high profile member of the entertainment community, Travolta brings a positive image endorsement to the Chicago Bulls.

In November he brought attention to the Sam's Club retail franchise when posed for pictures with fellow model Fabio and attracted crowds to Carson Pierre Scott's Social Expo gala.

Travolta revitalized Chicago's "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" franchise, defining the groom's role and making it the longest running stage comedy in the city and around the world.

In 2003, Round Lake Beach Mayor Bill Gentes proclaimed an honorary holiday in Travolta's name in gratitude for his work to fund fine arts programs for underprivileged youths.

"History in the Making" is the 2004 season marketing moniker for the Chicago Bulls.
