It's Poetry!

(this is the title of my first collection of poetry)

Quiet

Quiet contemplation
Often leads to thought
Of what it means to be alive
Or something that is sought

Sitting in the corner
Taking it all in
Lost inside another world
Created from within

People stop and stare
And wonder why I smile
If only they could climb inside
Just for a little while

Take me away

Take me away
To that special place
Take me away from here
Bring that smile back to my face
And take away these tears

I need to go
To that special place
I need know you care
I need to go to that special place
Please won't you take me there?

Take me to that place inside your heart
And make all my fears depart
Come on and take me away
Lead me onto better days

I know you can
Can take me there
I know you can
Because you care
So take me there.

Heart Broke

And my world just falls apart
It's falling down you've broke my heart
In my tears I slowly drown
And my smile turns to a frown
But the light shines on
And I'll make it through
And battle forth
And get over you
Cause life goes on
No matter what
No matter the sort of trouble you've got
And in the end we'll all be friends
We'll look back and smile
And learn from the past
It'll all be worthwhile
Cause life goes so fast
Love is a dangerous word
It breaks and it makes
Or so I've heard
Love lasts long
Or it might be short
And for the latter
It must be lust
Cause love is what makes your heart go crazy
But when you break up you wake up
And smell the daisies
So challenge the world
And the love that it shows
Is it superficial?
Is it real and official?
Inside hearts is where the love grows
So let your love shine true
The flow will go
Then you will know
Cause you'll end up sad
And the cycle continues
But everything dies
As soon as you're born
You start your dying
No point in crying
I'm trying to tell you
You're the master
Of every disaster
That happens to you.

Fade

Into the dark
I slowly fade
Into the night
Covered in shade

The moon
My light
My eyes
Change focus
To suit the night

In my lies
I slowly drown
My world is raped
And crumbles down.

My feet, My journey

My feet
Pound down
Upon the ground
The souls are lost
And so are searching

My journey
Takes me
To faraway places
The people I meet
Wear faraway faces

My eyes
Take in
A lot of things
My journey
Ends
Back where it started

My feet
Have stopped
Are layed to rest
The souls at ease
They've passed the test

The hands
Of time
Have clapped
Their last
My life gone by
It's in the past.

Thinking on the loo

My favourite place of all to think
Is when I'm on the loo
There's no-one there to cloud your thought
There's just the walls and you.

I sit on the seat and compose in my head
A poem that never gets read or said
If I only I had a pen and some paper
I'd write a poem, without a caper.

But alas I never am ready
For thoughts on the loo
Which come from my heady.

So the words go unwritten
And never get read
They just remain thoughts
That came from my head.

Uninspired

I thought long and hard
And just couldn't write
A poem that seemed to fit

So uninspired I remained
And in one place I sit

The words got muddled
Somewhere back when my brain
Just stopped to work

So uninspired I remained
I didn't even smirk

See? I'm uninspired now
The words are hard to find
I'm sure they're in there somewhere
Somewhere in my mind,

So uninspired I remain
Not a thought runs through my brain.

Did you ever wonder?

Did you ever wonder
Why some roads turn different ways?
Or why it is that we prefer the sun
To rainy days?

Did you ever wonder
What a frog would do
If it was kissed and made
Into someone quite like you?

Did you ever wonder
If the sky is really blue
Or if the there really is a god
Looking out for me and you?

Or did you ever wonder
Why the beggar on the street
Is skinny, old, and worn
And has no food to eat?

And did you ever wonder
Why a poet writes their words
Or if they want the reader
To think things thought absurd?

Maybe you have wondered
About these things and more
Cause life creates a doorway
But you have to push the door.

In the end (it all begins)

In the end
It all begins
Someone loses
Someone wins

At the start
It all departs
Fools rush in
With foolish hearts

In the end
The point is lost
Lives are taken
That's the cost

At the start
Hopes are high
Don't hope hard
It's all gonna die

In the end
It all depends
In the end
It all begins
Someone loses
Someone wins

The flow

Rivers flow into oceans
Love flows through our hearts
Life is full of creation
Until it all departs

Somebody takes a chance
And changes what they know
Life can change in a glance
And help us all to grow

Hearts are loved and broken
Are given strength anew
Thoughts of things awoken
A dream of me and you

Simple things once complex
Have all become quite clear
Joyful things, once sad
Now make me want to cheer

Once upon a time

Once upon a time in a land long gone and lost
A peaceful group of people prepared to pay the cost.
As armies marching eastward threatened to destroy
A small brave group of people had nothing to deploy.
The armies, they were ruthless, left destruction in their wake
The small brave group of people had no attack to make.

The army won the battle, with no great deal or effort
And the small brave group of people had to live with it.
The army won the land and did to it as they pleased
The small brave group of people begged down upon their knees.
The army showed no mercy, and killed them one by one
The small brave group of people soon dwindled down to none.

And so the army stayed there, the threat forgotten then
And no-one ever dared to fight them and the face their wrath again.
But armies will be beaten, as history goes to show
And this was no exception and hate began to grow.
It grew among the people who had watched their friends all die
And soon a man both brave and strong came to free the people (without a fearful eye.)

His name was Arden Jumbo, he was there to save some lives
And bring back peace to all the land and all it's dives.
He gathered up an army of young courageous men
And took them off to battle to claim their land again.
It was a small brave group of people, just like the men before
And they fought to get their land back in a mighty civil war.

But the army had great weapons and they killed the group with ease
But the also killed the land around, including all the trees.
The destruction it soon spread and the land was gone and lost
The army paid the price, but did they know the cost?

A lost and lonely stranger

A lost and lonely stranger in a far off place somewhere
Voices warn of danger but he doesn't see the snare.
People crowd around him and confusion sets him back
The crowd breaks for a moment, to let another stranger, break through the worried pack.

As both men meet they stop and take the other in
The crowd departs, and so break up the gathering.
The men remain there, standing, not speaking but a word
Not far off in the courtyard, come the cheerful chirps of birds.

The pillars of a building, it origins of old
Hide a boy who stands there watching, a wind blows, slightly cold
And he to waits see what happens, not doing as he's told.
He watches one man, then the other his eyes in constant shift

He wonders at these two strange men, and what causes their strange rift.
The men still standing, silent, have moved down to the ground
And there they sit and talk a while, of things which have come unbound.
Two strangers as they seemed at first, seem quite friendly now

The boy just stands there, watching, with a furrowed brow.
The men get up and part their ways, or so it seems
Their minds are still connected, as in a vivid dream.

Their meeting though it seemed by chance, was something far more grand
For their meeting would decide the fate for the people in the lands.
These stranger names were hidden and known only to a few
For with their knowledge they could destroy both me and you.

And placed into the wrong it could be quite a mess
And so their names were only known by a few, no more, no less.
The boy had heard of such men, but never did believe
But the boy knew their names, and what they could conceive.

Jaringo and Nehemeth the prophesised peace-bringers
Who would change the world and fix it up, put it through the wringers.
The boy could not believe his luck at seeing these two men
And thinking quickly thought he'd never see them again.

So he followed Nehemeth quickly sure to keep quite back
And Nehemeth wrapped his cloak around him, the most of it was black.
And on the other side of town Jaringo made his way
Not knowing what would greet him on his journey through the days.

Unknownly, yet they knew, the two men left at the same time
Mounted on their trusty steads, the rode from the city, Ghrime.
And where they were headed, fate knew, but not these two lone men
They only knew that one day their paths would cross again.

A dove flew off a statue

A dove flew off a statue
And landed on a chair
And who was sitting there?
Why, you and I, a loving pair.

A kiss was shared between us,
And sent our hearts a flutter.
And when the ending came
There was no word to utter.

The dove flew back to the statue,
And sat there perched so high.
And then it flew away again,
And left were you and I.

We left the chair together,
And forever we will be,
Together in that moment
Just you, the dove, and me.

Journeys

A man left on a journey
To where? God only knew,
He walked and as his journey went
His knowledge only grew.

A woman left on an adventure
To far off plains somewhere.
And where her journey took her
She didn't really care.

That man and woman met
As fate would have it be,
Their paths crossed on their journeys
And now they live in glee.

So listen as the wind blows
For it tells a story, true.
And maybe one day
We will meet, on journeys,
Me and you.
