And you thought fighting Sephiroth would be bad?!?! If you can kill off Emerald and Ruby, the fight that Sephiroth puts up as the last battle starts to look like child's play.

Before I give out any information regarding strategies, consider the following a prerequisite to even initiating combat

Emerald WEAPON:

Ok, now that's taken care of. I prefer to have these characters in the party: Cloud, Barret, and Red VIII. These characters tend to have the best statistics and are extremely powerful when it comes to Materia use. Immediately cast Haste on the party, than have the next player cast Cure3, even if Emerald didn't attack yet. Have the third command be W-Summon - Knights of the Round and than the Quadra Magic-Bahamut-ZERO combination. This will take up some time so you can sit back and watch the first of Emerald's 700,000 HP melt away. Have the next character mime that attack and immediately use a megalixer with the next. By this time, Emerald starts attacking with MP drainers. Megalixers are a must. Try to avoid Cure spells and stick to Megalixers because you want to continue the chain of Mimed Knights of the Round/Bahamut-ZERO. Keep up this pattern from the beginning: Casting Haste, Cure3, the Knights of the Round/Bahamut-ZERO combination, Megalixer, Mime, Mime, Megalixer, Mime, Mime, Megalixer. This also, is easier said than done, but I guarantee, in about a half-hour, Emerald will no longer be in existence. Your prize is the Earth Harp, which alone isn't worth much, but bring it to the Kalm Traveller for some out of this world prizes. Congratulations!

Ruby WEAPON

Well, I know this sounds strange, but before starting to battle, kill off the other two members of your party. Ruby likes to use a quicksand attack that cuts down your party to one character. That is not good if you evenly distributed your Materia to all the players. Keep one player strong (I have always used Cloud) and kill the others. Ruby won't do the quicksand attack than. There are some tricky parts to Ruby. Equip your chosen character with a Ribbon and the Ultimate Weapon. Ruby's constant negative status changes will not be able to effect the player. Have plenty of X-Potions and Elixers and the Final Attack-Revive combination. Also, equip the Elemental-Fire combination in your armor. Ruby likes to attack with fire and if you can absorb the damage, than that makes the fight much easier. Begin the battle by immediately casting Haste. Do not attack Ruby's body untill Ruby buries his claws into the sand. Than, cast the famous W-Summon-Knights of the Round/Bahamut-ZERO-Quadra Magic combination. Aim one summon at the body, and one at the claws. This usually prompts Ruby to retailiate with Ultima. Quickly use an Elixer to heal your character. Another one of Ruby's attacks is Comet2. Be careful of this attack, and concentrate mostly on keeping your character alive by using X-Potions and Elixers during Ruby's Comet2 spells. Remember to only attack Ruby when the claws are buried. Eventually (after about a half hour), Ruby will run out of skill points. This is when you can attack all the time with Knights of the Round and Bahamut-ZERO. This is the easier of the two WEAPON fights. Make sure you are max HP! Check out my other guides on my page..
