Any pattern worn with a different pattern will clash, whether they are different tartans, plaids, or camouflage.
It is okay to wear a pattern with a solid coloured piece.

Many tartans that include green are happy with green such as Royal Stewart, and Black Watch. A Black Watch blazer is best worn with tan dress pants, but green, or khaki will also go well--black pants may be too dark.

Royal Canadian Air Force Tartan looks best with blue unless you are a female, and then you can wear it with maroon or magenta.

Plaids are best worn with jeans.

Camouflage that is black, gray and white looks best with black or white solids. Camouflage that is green, and black can be worn with either black or green solids and NOT red, pink, any other colour.
