How to Get There
Castle Mistmoore is located at (-1000, 3200) in Lesser Faydark. When you enter the zone, take a left
and follow the mountainside to the second zone entrance. The first one you will come to will take you
to Steamfont. The second one will take you to Castle Mistmoore. So, if you are coming here from
Steamfont, you just take a left once you zone into Lesser Faydark and the next valley in the
mountainside on your left will take you to Mistmoore.
Description of Castle Mistmoore
Castle Mistmoore is a zone adjacent to Lesser Faydark. It is a castle that was designed by a cruel and
wicked dark elf by the name of Mayong Mistmoore. The design and layout is full of mazes and hidden
passages, but that is only the beginning of this confusing place. The daytime and nighttime creatures
vary from one another, so when you feel comfortable during the day, just wait until nighttime, because
your in for a whole new set of monsters trying to kill you.
This zone consists of outside the castle, and inside the castle. Many groups will just sit near the zone
and pull monsters, that way they can easily run to the zone if the situation grows too dangerous. The
spawn points here are close to one another, so this makes Castle Mistmoore a great place for some
nasty trains.
If you are a bard, then this place has something you have probably been seeking for, the Mistmoore
Battle Drums. The drums are just the beginning of the interesting items you can get here. Mistmoore
has been said to be one of the best zones in EverQuest for gaining experience, but this is only true for
those groups that have experience working together. It is not an uncommon thing to see dead bodies
lying all over the place in this zone, and that just gives witness to how dangerous this area can be. Do
not attempt to enter this zone unless you are in a well-oiled group that is ready for what lies ahead.
Suitability
This zone is suitable for levels 20 through 50.
Getting around in Castle Mistmoore
The Tower
As you enter the Castle Mistmoore zone. The first thing you will notice is a massive tower on your
right. This is where the vile Garton Viswen spawns on the second floor in the white circle. He is a rare
spawn and has some very great loot. The most notable being The Chestplate of the Dark Flame, the
stats on that are: AC19 with +9 to strength. Garton is a level 37 spellcaster. Kill him and he will drop
the Glowing Iron Pike (Common) or if you are really, really lucky, the Chestplate of the Dark Flame.
The Graveyard
From the Tower, carefully make your way to your right through what is referred to as the Hall. You will
find yourself at the Graveyard gates.
The graveyard is a great spot for those of level 25 to 30. There is an Imp Familiar who can spawn at
any of several points in the Graveyard. He drops a couple of interesting items. This guys drops the
Sacrificial Dagger and the Bloodstone Eyepatch. You will also want to kill the Glyphed Ghoul, who
drops the Vial of Vampire Blood as a common drop, and the Crested Mistmoore Shield on rare
occasions.
In the Graveyard, you will also see a small yellow building. This is the Tomb. Behind the Tomb, you
will find Ssynthi, an outcast Shadowed Man. This shadowman is seen holding a book (just looks like a
floating book). If you look on top of the coffin in the building, there is a flower that spawns there (it
looks like a dropped bag). Take this and give to Ssynthi and in return you will get the Scepter of
Sorrows, which is part of the ShadowBound boot quest in the Temple of Ro for Necromancers. When
you hand the rose to Ssynthi, your faction with TheTempleofRo goes up and your faction with The
Shadowmen goes down. Reverse these faction adjustments if you kill Ssynthi.
Ssynthi also holds a very good robe for lower level mages called Robe of the Keeper. It is AC8 with a
+2 Intelligence.
A warning to all who want to kill Ssynthi, he is actually a good character, thus the raise in faction with
Shadowmen that you get if you kill Ssynthi. It does not take many kills to totally ruin your standing with
The Temple of Ro. However, you can repair the damage killing shadowed men for an hour or so.
Now look inside the Tomb for the coffin. It is rumored that a great vampire spawns here on rare
occasion. Be extra wary around the coffin. There are traps on boths side. These traps will drop you into
a dangerous part of Mistmoore, the maze!
Help! I fell down one of the pit traps!
Do not get too worried if you do fall down one of the pit traps. It is a short run to get back up and into
the graveyard. When you first fall down the hole, you will be in a small room. There is only one exit,
and that the visible one between the two banners on the wall. Follow that and it will bend to the left and
then come to a brick wall. This wall is a fake, so just walk through it. You will now be in a room that
has three holes in the walls that do not lead out, two on the far wall and one on the left wall. There will
also be a stone-carving of some sort immediately to the right of the entrance you just came in. To leave,
there is an illusionary wall to the left of you. If you place your back to the stone carving, and then walk
directly to the wall, you will find the fake wall just a little to the right. When you enter through this wall,
you will be in a tiny corridor, walk down it and it will quickly bend to the left, and this will lead you to
another illusionary brick wall. Walk through this wall and it will bring you outside, behind the building
holding the vampire's coffin. Just for your information, the other secret passage in that room is right
next to the stone carving, to the left of it. If you enter this and follow the hallway, you will come to a
"T" in the path. Taking the right path will lead you to the tower, and the left path will lead you further
inside the castle. If you ask me, this castle was designed with much beauty, and many of the rooms
would be perfect for holding a large party in. If you have the time and ability, this place is definitely
worth exploring.
The Jail
The Jail is where the Deathly Usher spawns. This character drops the Black Silk Gloves that are needed
to complete the quest for the Lambent Gauntlets.
Be careful, cause there is a trap here that strips off invisibility spells. Could be embarassing, depending
on what you're wearing at the time.
On the nearby stairs, you'll find the Avenging Caitiff. He drops the Crested Spaulders (Common) and
Crested Helmet (Rare). In addition, the Caitiff is used in the Electrum Bladed Wakizashi quest
Safe Camping Spots
The walls behind the tombstones on either side of the graveyard are spots that trains tend to avoid.
These are suggested spots for camping between fights while outside of the castle.
Day and Nighttime Changes in the spawn
As it changes from daytime to nighttime, the creatures that spawn are different. Gypsies for example
spawn at night as were-wolves. Some creatures do not even spawn during the daylight hours, and they
will over come out at night. This works for the vampires, like Mayong Mistmoore.
Druids and Wolf Form
If a druid uses wolf form and has never done anything to lower faction with Mistmoore(such as killing
any creatures here), then there is a good chance he or she will be able to run through here without being
attacked. Please remember that not all mobs inside Mistmoore will be indifferent to you, but many will.
Raising Faction with Mayong Mistmoore
There is a dark story behind Mayong Mistmoore, and it has to do with the bards. You will notice that
you gain faction with the bards for killing any of Mistmoore's creatures.
This leads to the fact that you can indeed gain faction with the creatures of Mistmoore by killing bards.
You will notice, that quite a few bards exist around the world. If you find the bards and kill them, you will gain faction with Mistmoore. Doing this will then allow you to actually be considered a friend in this place and walk about unharmed. It would be quite amusing to walk in and out of the place with the monsters grinning at your warmly.
The Chasm
This is a large area that is at the foot of the castle's cliff. You reach this spot by entering the
passageway across from the Graveyard gates. You will go through a twisty passage and the enter an
area known as The Pit.
Continue straight ahead from The Pit and pass under a bridge. Eventually you will see a little plateau
with two Gargoyles. This is where Dark Elf named Enynti spawns. If killed, she will drop the Rune of
Fortune. This is the rune that is needed for the Incandescent Mask quest.
The Pool Room
From the Tower, go across the catwalk and then through a series of doors. To your left, you will enter a
room with a bathing pool. It is in this room that the Lady Lasna Cheroon spawns. She is the second
highest ranked vampire residing in Castle Mistmoore. She drops the Diamondine Earring as her rare
loot, and more often, the Platinum Skull Ring.
She is not alone though, Xicotl is the troll SK who lives on the second floor of Mistmoore castle, and
also spawns in the Pool Room. He spawns every 4 hours and drops the Glowing Hilt, which is is part of
the Soulfire quest. If you decide to attack him, make sure that you root him before hitting him. He is
quick to take off running.
The Throne Room
This is the room where Princess Cherista spawns. She used to drop the Gem-Encrusted Scepter, but for
some reason, she no longer drops anything. Hmmm… seems like a waste of time.
The Servants' Rooms
These are the two rooms close to the kitchens, where the butler Syncall and the Maid Issis live.
If you kill them, the Butler will usually drop the Cape of Midnight Mist, and the Maid will drop the
Nightshade Wreath as her common loot. Once in a great while, they will drop their Fangs. These are
current quest items for the Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi quest. By the way, the cape is worn on the
neck, not on the back.
The Courtyard
This is where the Hemo Enologists spawns. He drops the Blood Spirits, which are needed for the Rogue
Redemption quest.
The Fountain
In the courtyard, there is a little fountain. It is off by itself in a corner. This is where The Cloaked
Dhampyre spawns. This MOB is a Shadow Knight with a wicked Harms Touch. If killed, he will
commonly drop the Blood of the Dhampyre. On a rare basis, he will drop a Hooded Black Cloak.
The Ambassador's Room
This is where the Negotiator and the Gypsy Ambassador spawn. Be very, very careful. Negotiators are
enchanters. These bad boys will charm your entire group and you will all die.
The Ballroom
The Ballroom is on the first level. Many gypsies spawn here and one named Mynthi Davissi, drops Lute
of the Gypsy Princess. Occassionally, she drops the Mistmoore Battle Drums.
Be careful with your timing. At night, if you kill them, these gypsies will respawn as werewolves.
Initiate Familiar
These monsters come in two forms, Casters and Melee types. They spawn around the entrance and
near The Chasm. Level range is from 21 to 23.
Faction adjustments:
Mayong Mistmoore got worse
King Tearist hex got better
Agents Of Mistmoore got worse
League of Antonican Bards got better
Ring of Scale got better
The Grinning Gargoyle
This creature is the lesser version of the Sneering Gargoyle and weighs in at the low level 20's. You can
find this creature hanging out around the entrance areas of the zone. It is said that they can only be
harmed by magical weapons and the spells of casters.
A Deathly Harbringer
The level range is from 33 to 35. They drop medium and small bronze armor and fine steel weapons.
They are on of the mighty casters you will find here.
The Ancilles Overview
These creatures can be found all over Mistmoore, and 7 or 8 spawn in the Chasm alone. They are there
guarding the path that leads up to castle entrance.
The types are:
Ghastish
Ghostly
Ghoulish
Spectral
Spiritish
Vampiric
Remember, get used to these guys, because you will find them all over the place in this zone. They are
either armored to the bone and do strong melee attacks, or they will be casters.
