By avocation I play trumpet.

I'm very interested in my family's Scottish heritage and along with my wife Catherine and my sons James and Ian we are active in a number of Scottish heritage organizations.

I am the Louisiana Regent for the Clan Buchanan Society, International.

I am a Trustee of the Clan Campbell Society North America and a Board Member of the Clan Campbell Education Foundation.

I served five terms as President of the Caledonian Society of Baton Rouge 1988-1989, 1989-1990, 1993-1994, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. I currently serve as the Caledonian Society of Baton Rouge's Secretary.

In November 2012, was humbled when I was awarded the Thistle Award of the Caledonian Society of Baton Rouge its highest honor.

I have served as President of the St. Andrew Society of Louisiana.

I am a Past-Chief of the St. Andrew Society of Baton Rouge.

My Scottish cultural interests are varied and include Scottish history, dance, music. I have written articles on Scottish Highland Attire

We have a keen interest in Scottish breeds of dogs. We have three Yorkshire Terriers, two Cairn Terriers and a Border Terrier.

In 2001, Catherine and I along with my parents completed a grand tour of the British Isles.

Again in the Summer of 2012, my son Jamie and I visited Scotland.

My lovely wife Catherine is of the Clan Campbell. She is a Past-Chair of the Louisiana Support Staff Association of Libraries. She is the Past-President of the Bayou Bebes of Baton Rouge Doll Club which is a United Federation of Doll Clubs Affiliate. She also has served as Vice President of the Caledonian Society of Baton Rouge.

One of our favorite activites is dancing. We especially enjoy jitterbug, ballroom, Irish Ceili step-dancing, Scottish Country dancing and Vintage (18th & 19th Century dancing. We dance with the Scottish Country Dance Groups in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. We also belong to the Louisiane Vintage Dancers.
