Social Work

Adams:

"I think Ms. Adams was very nice and fair. She seemed to genuinely care about her students. I hope she stays around." --SWK 330

"She identified with us and shared real concern for our problems." --SWK 330

Avant:

"Although he was an intimidating teacher, his class projects and papers were helpful. I never felt like our answers were good enough due to the grin on his face." --SWK 425

Daley:

"He is the most boring teacher I have ever had to endure." --SWK 215

"He didn't have much of a personality. He graded hard, and he doesn't make learning fun." --SWK 215

Farmer:

"Let's see...how to describe him. To keep it politically correct--Ethically Challenged!" --SWK

"Farmer acts as though he is the god of social work. He thinks he knows it all. One piece of advice to anyone who may take him. Don't disagree with him!" --SWK 215, 225, 315

"Talks about his own qualifications to much. The man is an expert in EVERYTHING. His favorite word is I. Tests are pretty simple though." --SWK 215

"I think he graded fair and treated his students with respect. He kept class interesting, although he doesn't always stick to the subject. He keeps your attention by telling relevant stories." --SWK 225 & 325

Harrington:

"This lady deserves respect. She is honest and blunt. She really leaves assignments open for you to think, which can be challenging. I learned a lot about what being a social worker involves. I hated my internship, but, the class time was wonderful. I would take her again if I could. Expect to work, this is not an easy A (or B). Many papers and lots of thinking." --SWK 350

"Some days you don't know whether she's in a joking mood or not, but her class is fun and I learned how to deal with clients and different social work scenarios." --SWK 350

Heard:

"She can be opinionated when it comes to oppression of homosexuals and women--and she has the only right one. She is equally opinionated that The Bible is only a Jewish effort to preserve their pure bloodlines. Otherwise, she is a good teacher and very experienced in hard core social work--many years as a CPS caseworker. Learned a great deal from her, but she ran several off from the profession with the three opinions stated above." --SWK 215

"I could not have asked for a more fun, intelligent, respectful prof. She is classy, professional, and personable. I worked real hard for the B, I may or may not get. This class involves a lot of thought and work. (25 page policy analysis and group project). Dr. Heard is definitely a teacher worth taking. She is a great model for students to learn from." --SWK 415

"I learned the most in her classes about what I will really be dealing with as a social worker. She grades kind of picky on her essay tests, but her classes are beneficial." --SWK 315 & 415

Templeman:

"Professional in every way, she is the model of social worker and teacher all rolled into one. She grades and returns papers and tests by the next class day--the same day if it is a make-up test. She leads class discussion, facilitates the class members to use common sense to answer questions, and is very positive in all her interactions with students. She is very understanding when students have problems. Take her reviews to heart and focus mainly on those issues--write it all out before the exam. She gets an A++ with me and I received the same from her." --SWK 225, 330
