Episode 12, "The Prophecy"

Previously, on Friends and Foes:

Everyone dealt with the severity of the Season Finale…

Devin said his final good-bye to Stephanie at her grave.

Taylor said something shocking under hypnosis therapy…what?

Derek, seemingly friends with Meredith, suddenly became enraged at her…

The whole group, Alex, Devin, Taylor, and Jeff, slowly approach a small booth. Alex takes the single seat there, while the others stand directly behind him. He glares to another booth directly across from him, where Brandi is sitting. They are separated by a glass barrier, a barrier that allows their endless anger at each other to grow. The tension is heavy and taut on this evening in the Pine Valley Jail House, as Alex picks up the phone, as does Brandi, with a heated conversation to follow…

"Why?" Alex coldly asks of Brandi. Brandi throws her head back and evilly laughs.

Taylor, Devin, and Jeff smirk in disgust, as Brandi continues to chuckle. Alex desperately explores Brandi’s spiteful eyes, looking for an answer, looking for the truth. But Alex sees nothing. It is as if her soul is empty, like she is no longer there, like she has lost her identity. Alex realizes that he is not looking into the eyes of someone who used to be an innocent young woman. He is looking into the eyes of evil, a monster that has taken over her body.

"What are you doing in jail? You need to be in an institution! You need help Brandi…" Alex says, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Oh my God…" Jeff says, realizing Alex’s point. "Poor Brandi…"

Brandi’s insane laughing fails to cease.

Tears spring from Alex’s eyes, and he turns away, running out of his chair and out of the jailhouse.

"For all it’s worth, I forgive you…" Devin says. He realizes now that Brandi was not at fault for her disorder. In a way, he sympathizes for her.

"You FORGIVE me? Ha!" Brandi says, her face angry with disgust. "After I killed your first love?"

The comment comes as a shock for Devin.

"Yes."

"After I nearly murdered you and your friends?"

"I forgive you Brandi. I know now that it’s not your fault." Devin says, staring at his feet.

On the other side, Brandi has become emotionless. Tears well up in her eyes.

"You really forgive me?"

"Yes." Devin says.

"Me too," Jeff adds, almost in unison with Taylor.

"I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry…" Brandi cries, weeping hysterically, as Taylor, Jeff, and Devin nod and turn away.

A new found closure… and the beginning of a new start.

Dr. Patricia Latte sits in a dark office, lit only by an antique desk light. She is flipping through her files when she comes to Taylor’s file.

"Taylor Brookdale…" she starts. "How am I supposed to explain to him what he said to me?"

Dr. Latte struggles within herself for a moment, then picks up a phone and dials a number.

A resounding echo is heard through Patricia’s reciever.

"Hello?"

"Taylor?" Dr. Latte asks.

"Yeah…"

"This is Dr. Latte. I’m calling about the hypnosis…"

Silence.

"You see," Dr. Latte continues, "you seemed to explain a prophecy."

"What? That sounds scary, what’s wrong with me?"

"Taylor, you gave me some interesting facts. First, you told me about, a sister…"

"But I don’t have a sister." Taylor says quizzically.

"Perhaps she was lost or kidnapped?" Dr. Latte suggests.

"Well, why wouldn’t I remember something like that?" Taylor implies, unbelieveing.

"Because you were only a child." An uncomfortable pause. "You also said something about your father…you said you killed him…"

Devin is driving down a street. Night has swept over the small town of Pine Valley. The moon shines, almost valiantly, as Devin glances down at a note in his hand. It reads:

‘Devin, I’ll see you at my house tonight for the Study date…Meredith J

Followed by a set of directions. Finally, Devin pulls up in Meredith’s driveway, not noticing the dark figure moving into her backyard…

Devin gets out of his car and approaches the front door, when suddenly he hears a blood-curdling scream. His eye widen in fright as he bursts through the front door to find a dark figure towering over Meredith’s body in a threatening position…

The figure, seeing Devin, scurries off through the back door in a cowardly fashion.

Devin stands straight and tall, breathing heavily, the situation all to familiar. He looks down at Meredith, scared to death, still crouched awkwardly and covering her head with her arms. Devin lends his hand to her and picks her up.

Meredith hugs Devin tightly, extremely grateful for saving her from this stalker. She pulls away slightly, not releasing her grasp to him.

"You saved my life…" Meredith says, gazing lovingly into Devin’s eyes.

"It was nothing, I couldn’t let you get hurt."

"Thank you so much for saving me." Meredith says.

Immediately, a spark flickers between them. Their eyes are ablaze with passion, a newly discovered desire for each other emerging. Meredith gently holds Devin’s face in her hands. As if magnetic, their lips are drawn together.

As their lips touch, a shock wave of ecstasy shoots through their bodies, their mouths exploring with burning passion, their eyes closed, feeling pleasure with every second. The kiss seems to last forever…

Outside, the figure emerges from the darkness…it is Derek. He has an angry frown on his face.

"I love you Meredith. More than Devin ever will… The only reason I am doing this is I want to see you…I need to see you…" Derek psychotically mumbles.

"And if Devin gets in my way, who knows what I might do…"
