    History Of Aero Design

Aero Design was formed into a business in the spring of 1994. The idea of our business started many years ago in 1973, as a dream of someday being able to market my own aircraft designs/products. I really begin to seriously consider this after fortunately winning the 1988 US Masters National Championship and having a very successful district and local event wins in precision aerobatics (pattern). I was also tired of flying other designs that were not mine. After considering all the criteria I was looking for in a pattern plane, the Persuasion was born. It revolved around the four stroke movement that was beginning to become popular in '89-'90. Certainly, the Y.S. 1.20 was the motor of choice. After successful competition flying and a proven design, molds were made to produce the Persuasion. With sales and customer satisfaction building confidence, newer designs would be in the near future. With the success of our first design Persuasion, the Inspiration was introduced and exceeded our wildest expectations. It is available in basic kit form. With the new wide body concept becoming popular, Ricochet' was developed into a successfull design and a basic kit available as of 2001. Currently with the Ricochet' being such a good design, Destiny is in the works for availability in 2013. It will be absolutely state of the art design in construction (composite) and aerodynamics. An electric and gas version will be available in kit and ARF versions. CAD drawings are finished, molds have been made and currently the prototype is flying and under testing. Pictures of the Destiny will be posted on the picture gallery soon. The 35% scale Staudacher S300D is offered in a limited kit form. Hopefully in the near future, it will be a complete basic fiberglass kit. It is is a Tom Miller design that was built between himself and I to fly in the 1st World Aerobatic Championship in Greenville, SC. Due to foamies becoming popular, I decided to try a small scale version of the Ricochet'. It really is a good flyer with 3D capabilities. It is under testing at this time. Hopefully it can be developed into a basic foam kit. One of the biggest advantages our customers have with Aero Design is us. My wife, Kathy and I, try our best to treat our customers like we want to be treated. An honest and fair business is very important to us and customer satisfaction is first priority. A second advantage is all our work is done totally in-house. We do not sub-contract any of our work. This helps to ensure quality throughout the process. This hobby never ceases to amaze me. From my humble beginnings to present, technology has changed our sport for the better. I am constantly looking for better ways to improve our techniques and I am really excited about the innovative process that drives me to the design stage. Aerobatics is my passion and the quest for that perfect airplane is there. We are honored and humbled to anyone who flies our products and wish all our customers much success.

    Best regards and Godspeed,
