I've been invited to attend a cast and crew screening of the first few episodes this weekend. I'll post a report A.S.A.P.!

November 28, 2002: Viewers who tuned into ABC's "Dinotopia" tonight were treated to a 30 second 'teaser' for "Veritas". For a sneak peak, right click here and save target as. This .mpg file is 2.3 MB. For some screen caps, click here. According to a scooper at the message board, "Veritas" will premiere on Monday, January 27th and maintain that Monday night timeslot. The show is currently filming/producing episodes 5-12 in Toronto.

October 24, 2002: I've added the above synopsis (which to me has a bit of an "X-Files" feel to it!) straight from ABC's website. Please join the new Yahoo group for discussion of the show (sign up box is below).
Filming is now well underway here in Toronto. Currently 13 episodes are on order, however ABC has the option of ordering another 10 (also called the 'back 10'), which would give it a full season. Cast and crew are expecting to be in Toronto until at least February, but if the 'back 10' are ordered, this will be extended till April/May.

I met with Arnold Vosloo in Toronto, on October 10th. He has high hopes for the action-adventure series, which he sees as very family friendly. He compared it to "Smallville" in that it should have a broad appeal and be something that the family can watch together. He sees his character Vincent, as rather mysterious and he likes it that way. Vincent will be revealed to the audience over a long period of time and should prove to be a very interesting character with a bit of a shady past>>>>>highlight for a bit of a spoiler>>>> Vincent was once aligned with "the bad guys".

At the recent "Lights, Camera, Auction" event held in Toronto, 2 minutes of 'teaser' footage was screened. Reaction was extremely positive. A set visit was auctioned off, and winner Linda F. has promised a full report to the AVRP. Rob Ballentyne, "Veritas" art department (and a high school friend of mine!), reported that the sets are absolutely fantastic. His previous credits include "Earth: Final Conflict". He also joked that Ryan Merriman seems to have his shirt off in every episode! Rob also mentioned that like "The X-Files", there is an ongoing backstory, where the main characters are in search of 'something' and of course are being dogged along the way by a group of mysterious bad guys.

Cast and crew alike are sharing a true enthusiasm for this production.

June 15, 2002: Arnold and the rest of the cast will be trekking north later this summer. Filming is set to start in Toronto, Canada, late July and last for about 5 months.

May 14, 2002: ABC announces its fall lineup. "Veritas" will be a midseason replacement. Here is the plot summary: Ancient relics. Hidden tombs. Religous icons. Boring stuff for 17-year-old rebel Nikko Zond. But when he's kicked out of yet another boarding school and delivered to his archeologist father, Nikko starts to learn the truth about Solomon Zond's life work. Behind the academic cover, Zond's "company" is investigating the mysteries of the ancient world, and protecting its secrets at all costs. Together, father and son are swept up in a race to uncover this past before a mysterious brotherhood can stop them.

From the creators of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and the Emmy Award-winning producers of Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows and Annie, this hour combines the thrills of Indiana Jones with the intrigue of the world's greatest unsolved mysteries.

May 13, 2002: Zap2It.Com looks at ABC's fall schedule.

May 12, 2002: The pilot has been picked up by ABC and will be a part of the 2002-2003 fall schedule.
