Claude Carver actually makes his entrance earlier on in the DVD version of "Zeus and Roxanne". Mary Beth has just
arrived at the institute and is informed by her assistant that they have been declined various grants. Instead of
going out to the boat, they first have a run in with Claude who is lounging at his desk with his feet up.
Claude rises to greet Mary Beth after telling her that she'll likely end up "stocking goldfish
at the local pet store" since she didn't get any grants. He continues by saying, "I wasn't joking".
"Perhaps we should strive for the grant together Mary Beth the sum of the parts being greater than the whole
and that sort of thing". Mary Beth reminds him that their research philosophies are too different and he
responds by saying "I didn't know I ever had one---let me know if you change your mind."
I can see why this scene was deleted, as it is basically replayed when Mary Beth returns from her
outing with Zeus. It was a nice little discovery however for AV fans!
