Built in the 1760's by the founder of Westminster, the Winchester Country Inn is one of Carroll County's oldest buildings. In 1986, the Inn and grounds were completely restored combining it's rich natural beauty with present day comforts.
The interior has been refurbished with antiques and period furnishings including many local pieces from prominent Carroll County families. Beautifully restored pine flooring, original moldings, hand blown window panes, and period fixtures throughout , make the Winchester Country Inn one of the most delightful and refreshing Country Inns open to the public.
Centrally located in Westminster,Maryland, this bed and breakfast haven is designed with relaxation in mind. Every guest is awakened to the smell of fresh, brewed coffee. The sunlight drifts through blown glass windows as guests reminisce of times past. A hearty country breakfast is served in our dining room every morning of your stay at the Inn.
During summer months one can sip English iced tea on our enclosed front porch and during the winter months enjoy a warm spiced cider by the cozy fireplace.
Recreational facilities and historic points of interest abound in and around the Winchester Country Inn. Tennis courts and golf and only minutes away. The International Gift Shop in New Windsor offer mueseum quality hand crafts from 40 countries. Cascade Lake, a great family attraction, offers swimming ,sunbathing, hiking, and relaxation. Historic Union Mills Homestead(c.1797), Uniontown(c.1792-1815), Western Maryland College(c.1867), The Carroll County Farm Mueseum(c.1852), wine vineyards, antique shops, and restuarants are just a short drive from the Inn.
