As someone who works in an advertising agency, you know how difficult it is to get a first job within the industry.
Agencies tend to hire people with proven track records. Not beginners.
I would like to challenge that practice and encourage agencies to recruit some 'fresh blood' into the industry.
"Our industry is going through a major revolution. It needs a major change of thinking, it needs new blood, it needs to be nothing like the industry as it is now. It's a brave new world out there"
Nicholas Davie, Managing Partner, Mojo

"Advertising Agencies main dealings will be with their clients, and more and more clients will be marketing graduates, so we have to be able to reflect their beleifs and have people of equal intelligence and ambition sitting opposite them at the table"
Gawen Rudder, Chairman of the Advertising Federation of Australia
Source: SMH 5/12/98 seection 9 page 1I've always liked making things, but ever since I started making ads I haven't enjoyed making anything as much. My goal is to find a job doing the thing I enjoy most.
Making effective advertisments provides a satisfaction and sense of accomplishment for me. This is especially with humorous ads. Seeing someone smile, a result of something that I have created is very rewarding.
That there is an opportunity out there for me to make a career out of something I enjoy doing so much, astounds me endlessly.

~ NEWS UPDATE ~
- I was recently shortlisted for the Advertising Federation of Australia's Graduate Trainee Program. Click here for the AFA's homepage with information about the trainee program.
Competition was fierce this year with approximately 4000 (four thousand!) people going for one of the ten positions.
The 4000 applicants were cut down to the top twenty based on a subission of three essays and their resumes. The essays had to be no more than 200 words each and were entitled; The Power of a Great Idea and My Greatest Academic Achievements and My Greatest Non-academic Achievements (Click the highlighted text to read my submissions)
My submission was in the top twenty of the 4000+ applicants.

- Reading and Writing
In my spare time there's nothing I enjoy more than to sit down and read a book. I especially enjoy books of the fantasy genre with some of my favourite authors being; Terry Pratchett, David Gemmell and Sara Douglass.I am currently writing a fantasy novel with a friend of mine with the working title of 'Pariah'. Writing with someone else is a fun experience seeing as neither of us know exactly how the book is going to end!
