Notebooks for Sale - Top of the line. $2200?

Have you been looking for Notebooks or Laptops at discount prices? Read on then

I have gone to great lengths to find a fast, top of the line Notebook. For almost two months now I went from site to site, store to store and manufacturer to manufacturer.

Every time I was either presented with a small, slow and heavy “affordable” notebook or with a fast but extremely expensive machine.

The “big” names sell anywhere from $1500 to $5500.

The limitations on the cheaper ones are very important, if you consider the speed of technological breakthroughs and how fast our current machines are going out of style, usually six (6) months, then we have to be extra careful to where we invest our hard earned cash.

For starters they have small, low resolution screens. Have you ever tried to work on a small DSTN screen? Well, I have.. Trust me on this, you have to have your head fixed in the same place, if you move a little to the left or to the right, a portion of the screen is no longer visible. If you work, like I do, for several hours in front of the screen then soon you are going to need physical therapy. I should go on and mention how stupid the games feel, or how hard it is to work on graphic intensive applications.

Now, consider a 14.1” high resolution LCD display. The first time I saw it, it was when I was working on my Compaq Contura. WOW! I looked at both screens, shut my Contura down and haven't opened it ever since. Do you know what Compaq asked for a replacement puny 10.1” screen? $1224. You heard this right!

Listen to my advise! When you go looking for a notebook make sure you buy a machine:

MAKE SURE you can UPGRADE it at minimum cost.

Of course all the other trimmings are important as well. On a recent weekend, I took my family camping. Late at night we watched a movie on the notebook DVD. How is that for portability?

Finally my market search bears fruit. Listen to what I found.

  1. Large LCD screen, 14.1” XGA TFT, only one brand offers a bigger one.

  2. AMD K6 II with 3D Now©, at 300MHz. UPGRADABLE!!!. And don’t go on beating AMD’s processors before you read the benchmarks.

  3. 64Mb SDRAM, up to 128Mb

  4. 4Mb SGRAM, video card, MPEG ready, 3D chip for your fastest gaming experience

  5. 3D OPL, Yamaha sound card

  6. Large, large 4.3Mb Ultra fast UDMA HD (IBM)

  7. TV out, (connects directly to your TV or VCR), DVD ready, every port or connection you will ever need. All this weighs approximately 7lb.

Guess what I did? - (this reminds me of a commercial I used to watch on TV about a shaving machine) – Yes! I though this is a great opportunity to hit the big boys where it hurts. So, now I sell them myself.

All this is fine you might say, but how much?

$2200 that’s all and you get a Lithium battery instead of Ni-Mh, to go that extra mile.

If you think this is too much look in this page for links to the cheapest places I have found and I am sure you know.
