The topography of Central Kalimantan affects the language, culture, and arts of the people of Central Kalimantan, flow of the big and small rivers and the villages location make this province rich in dialects, so far it was found that there more than twenty-five dialects, so far it was found that there are more than twenty-five dialects which are spoken in Central Kalimantan Province.

The Dayak Ngaju is the widest spoken dialect in Central Kalimantan, it is used as the lingua-franca in Kapuas Regency, Palangkaraya and around, Mangkatip and Teluk villages in South Barito. While Ma'anyan, Dusun, Tewoyan, Lawangan, Bayan, Paku, Bakumpai, and Siang are spoken along the Barito river. Katingan dialect, Tamuan, Sampit, Mentaya, and Seruyan, are used around villages in East Kotawaringin Regency.

Furthermore, Delang, Kumai, Arut, Bulik, Lamandau, and Blantikan dialect are spoken in West Kotawaringin Regency. Until now a days all those dialects are still used among each native speakers. Like another provinces of Indonesia. Bahasa Indonesia is an official language used in formal condition or among different ethnic group which cannot understand each other dialect. n accordance with the development of area and because of many new comers came to Central Kalimantan, so the dialect in this province areal so various, For instance Javanese, Batakese, Sundanese, etc. are found in Central Kalimantan.
