In general, Kalimantan which is also well known as BORNEO now become an international interest. Ecologists said that the tropical rain forest of Kalimantan is one of the earth's lungs after Amazone in America, which is extremely dominant in determining all the life in the earth. BORNEO is the other name of Kalimantan in the Dutch colonial period, its surface covers 746,309 sqkms, is the third largest island in the world after Greensland and New Guinea.

Central Kalimantan covering south-central from the Schwaner and Muller Mountains to Java Sea, geographically Central Kalimantan Province is located on 0%45 North latitude until 3%31 South latitude, and 111% until 116% East Latitude. To the North Central Kalimantan Province, to the East bordered with West and East Kalimantan Provinces, to West bordered with West Kalimantan Province, and to the South is bordered with the Java Sea. Topographically, the Central Kalimantan consists of plain area, with plateau and hills in the North, while in the South is mostly swamps. Central Kalimantan is also flowed through by eleven rivers from the North to the Java Sea plus thirty-three small rivers ending to the big one, so it is reasonable if all the economics, commerce, and transportations depend on those river currents.

Kalimantan is one of the tropical are as which has a very high rain-falls all the year. For Central Kalimantan the rain-falls range between 2000-3560 mm per annum. The temperature are dry and humid range between 29-34 %C, and the humidity procentage is 95-98%. The rainy season is from October until April, and the highest rain-falls occurs on Desember and January.
